The Sad Cadillac
I work in a relatively small city (35,000 or so) nestled in the Ouachita Mountains. It has a rather sizable elderly population, a good portion of which consists of retirees from the north. Yeah, it's a conservative place--but I only saw my first McCain/Palin sticker a couple of weeks ago. It adorned the rear window of a large General Motors car being driven slowly by the proverbial Little Old Lady.

I saw my first McCain/Palin yard signs about a week ago, two of them on a hillside lawn south of town. One is on a stick in the ground, the other is up in an oak tree where it's hard to miss. In the last few days, they've both been adorned with red streamers.

On Monday of this week, a shiny late model Cadillac appeared on the lawn between the McCain/Palin signs--with a "For Sale" sign on the windshield.

Maybe some kind-hearted person will drive this eldery couple to the polls on Election Day. I'd hate for them to be denied the chance to vote for more prosperity under the Republics. But my fear is that they will not find a buyer before November 4th and will drive themselves--with their blinders on.
