My wife: "Obama could have completely skewered Palin if he had wanted to..."
"He had many opportunities to do so. Instead, he took the highroad". I agree, Obama explained himself well and we just got more of the same "junkyard dog" attacks from McCain. This looked really bad for McCain. Obama didn't take his bait.

8. I said that to hubby as well
but in hindsight that would have been the headline tomorrow. He had no need to say anything about her - she is her own worst enemy.

5. Re: Sarah Palin, I think Obama should have skewered her. She's easy fodder
Troopergate, her foreign policy in-expertise (in comparison to Joe Biden), her crazy talk with the "base".

Sorry, it was an easy score and I was disappointed that Obama didn't make better use of it. Biden is virtually unassailable and the question was all about taking down the other's VP pick. No brainer that Palin FAILS in comparison to Biden but even especially on her own.

Obama should have called her out on her inability to do a live press conference or town hall. Or her inability to do interviews with the press on the campaign trail. She is a travesty and I rue the fact that Obama let it pass.

6. No. Whatever else Obama is doing right
One of the main things is his ability to stay or appear to stay above the fray. McCain is and has been saddled with being Mr. Negative, and it's turning voters off. Best to let McCain keep that title than distract from it by getting in an easy shot on someone whose negatives rise day after day. The vast majority of Americans don't like Palin - only the religious nutjobs who aren't going to vote for Obama in the first place.

12. I disagree...if he would have skewered her...
that would have given her credibility in this campaign. As much as I would have liked to hear him slice and dice her, it would have only served to help McCain last night.

7. Yes he could have. But he didn't need to. She's going home to face the
music in Alaska soon, and the accumulation of bad press she will acquire in due time, will be saved for the next time she sticks her neck out thinking she's ready to take on the best & brightest in the big political arena outside of Wasillaworld.

----------
She'll be lucky to to survive he tenure as govenor.

Ayers is all she had & Obama chewed that one up in one short statement.

9. I would have liked to have heard Obama point out
that when Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla, she had to hire a city manager to run a village of around 6,000 population.

13. He could have skewered McCain numerous times about many issues,
but he wisely remained silent. He knew if he so much as looked at McCain crosseyed, there would be a nasty commercial the next day. As it turned out, McCain came out of the debate looking like the crazy grandfather in the attic.

14. He did imho...
with the line "She's a very accomplished...(huge pause) POLITICIAN." Sure, it was not the swing of a broadsword, more like a stiletto, but just as effective.
