Okay, there's probably more than one Joe Wurzelbacher in Cincinnati. But walk through this with me.

I noticed at the beginning of his question to Obama, he stated "I'm getting ready to buy a company that makes about 200 -- 250 - $275-280,000 a year."

The average yearly salary for plumbers in 2007 was $47350, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. How does someone so young (he appears so in the video) on that salary buy a company with a revenue of $270k? It seems more probable that this guy earns closer to $100k/year, which is possible if he's a certified accountant.

4. Doubt this is the same guy. Ditto for guy in OP. He's from the Toledo area. Was interviewed at home.
Local TV was in his living room after the debate, interviewing him.

8. So..what did they do?
Run to Joe's house & watch his reaction during the debate? This is just too convenient.

11. Apparently, since Obama was in his neighborhood and the video
had made the rounds. I wondered if he was a plant too but then how would he show up in the same neighborhood Obama decided to stop in to canvas.

The guy was named in the first article on Sunday.

12. 280K a year is just not enough for this guy? Greedy jerk
<snip>
Mr. Wurzelbacher watched Wednesday night’s debate and said he still thinks Senator Obama’s plan would keep him from buying the small business that employs him.

About Senator McCain: “He’s got it right as far as I go."

5. That was my first thought....
This guy is going to be famous. McCain's team must've vetted him before the debate so he could make the point during the debate.

My guess is we'll all know soon enough if this guy is legit.

If he isn't...... Bwahahaha

9. When I ask google for a picture of "Joe Wurzelbacher" ...
... some guy from California keeps coming up. (http://www.50statesmarathonclub.com/cgi-bin/main.cgi?form=1)

It must be a more common name than I'd imagined.

But, howmanyofme.com says there is only 1 "Joe Wurzelbacher" (http://howmanyofme.com)

So, who knows?

10. Nope. But Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher sure as hell should hire an accountant.
... because he doesn't have the foggiest notion what Obama's proposal means. In fact, the degree to which Wurzelbacher misunderstand it probably indicates he's not qualified to report his own taxes.

13. I've come to the conclusion that Joe IS a plumber
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 12:00 AM by magellan
...after reading his interview with Family Security Matters.

I've also concluded from that interview that he's a conservative "family values" voter whose brainwashed idea of socialism prevents him from seeing how damaging four more years of Republican economics would be to him. I can't find how much he'd more he'd be paying in taxes on a business that takes in $270k/year under Obama's plan, if any, but he'd definitely be paying less personal income tax with Obama than with McSame.

Of course, Joe's fears are all hypothetical right now -- something else conservatives are good at. Joe still has to buy that business, and at some later point, when he can afford to, hire one or two guys to help him out as he says he plans to do.

edit: dropped word
