17. No DU here......but it made me really listen to the debates and think

my 'own' thoughts about it all. That was probably a 'good' thing - as much as I :heart: DU. Speaking for myself, perhaps I rely on DU too much, sometimes. I 'like' to think of myself as an 'independent thinker', so it was kind of refreshing to watch the debate without reading the DU commentary.

mcSame was just talkin' mostly 'shite'. I watched half of the debate with my 85 y/o life-long democratic mom, who was gonna 'stay home' because she can't bring herself to vote for a black man, and DEFINITELY can't vote for mcSame.....she was calling mcSame out right-and-left about the rhetoric that he was spewing without ANYTHING to support/bring into focus what he would do differently. She's gonna vote.

I'm pretty sure she's gonna fill in that 'bubble' next to Barack Obama's name (and then think to herself, "d*mn, I've come a long way", or something like that) ..... anyway, it's a 'good' thing! :-)

on edit: one more thing to add....when I had to leave her place and was walking past the other resident's doors of the independent living place - they ALL were listening to the debate.... They all knew/thought it was "important". Good on them. As well as, they are all worried that whether or not they will be able to continue to afford to live in this 'independent living' place. What will happen if/when they need to move to ASSISTED living?! That's REALLY EXPENSIVE! Egads! :scared: <----Answer: they WON'T be able to afford it, and YOU, my dear child, will be taking care of your infirmed mother/father. Their 'savings' have dwindled to 1/2 of what they had before! No much income. YOU will be forced to take care of them, which is okay, unless, you are totally heartless and/or pushed to the 'breaking point' already.
