Obama “He’s neither-nor, It’s in the Bible. Come as one. Don’t create other breeds.”
For Some, Uncertainty Starts at Racial Identity

MOBILE, Ala. — The McCain campaign’s depiction of Barack Obama as a mysterious “other” with an impenetrable background may not be resonating in the national polls, but it has found a receptive audience with many white Southern voters.

In interviews here in the Deep South and in Virginia, white voters made it clear that they remain deeply uneasy with Mr. Obama — with his politics, his personality and his biracial background. Being the son of a white mother and a black father has come to symbolize Mr. Obama’s larger mysteries for many voters. When asked about his background, a substantial number of people interviewed said they believed his racial heritage was unclear, giving them another reason to vote against him.

“He’s neither-nor,” said Ricky Thompson, a pipe fitter who works at a factory north of Mobile, while standing in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store just north of here. “He’s other. It’s in the Bible. Come as one. Don’t create other breeds.”

hate and learned it.. It shows how they manipulate the Bible to support the hate and their sense of superiority. They are exposing to the world the world they live in. They are now in a giant spotlight and the sound is turned up. Though I hate to say this ... they may have love for their Bible, their Reverend, their family and neighbors, the flag(s), and the pledge, but they don't have it for most humans. The worst ones are the ones who make money from hate. I will never believe that God created us to hate.

28. Mormons equate them with the sons of Cain. Say God's curse turned all his descendants black.
And don't tell me it's a deprecated belief. Two Mormon missionaries from Utah came to MY door in 2003/2004 and peddled exactly THAT shit.

31. It's a ridiculous premise though.
Because if you accept the Bible as literal history, then you would also have to accept that the descendants of Cain would have all died out in the big Noah's Ark flood.

Noah and his family would have been descendants of Seth, Adam & Eve's third kid.

After the big boat ride was over though, there was an incident where Noah was really wasted and his son Ham saw him naked......

18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth.

20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness.

24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,
"Cursed be Canaan!
The lowest of slaves
will he be to his brothers."

26 He also said,
"Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem!
May Canaan be the slave of Shem.

27 May God extend the territory of Japheth ;
may Japheth live in the tents of Shem,
and may Canaan be his slave."

28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Altogether, Noah lived 950 years, and then he died.

Some have used this passage to say that the Canaanites, descendants of some guy who accidentally saw his dad naked, and apparently thought it was funny, were the ones "cursed" with extra melanin. Yeah, it sounds every bit as ridiculous as the Cain or "fallen angel" theories, but at least this one accounts for the the "fact" that Cain's descendants would have been wiped out in the flood.

5. Racial heritage???
Man. I'll be glad to see the end of such concepts.

Well, I won't likely be alive to see it, but still.

The phrase itself - 'Racial Heritage' - sounds right at home at a Ku Klux Klan rally!

12. Viva la Raza!
There is nothing, NOTHING, wrong with having pride in your racial heritage. Everyone should be proud of their race.

Viva la Raza! = Long Live the Race!

Does 'viva la raza' or 'Black Power' sound right at home at a klan rally, too? Also, why would *you* know what "sounds right at home at a Ku Klux Klan rally"??

As a former member of the Aryan Brotherhood, I could never stand the fucking Klan Klowns to begin with. They're cowards who hide behind sheets & hoods. If you're gonna spread and/or preach hate, at least have the guts enough to stand up like a man and show your face. Fuck a bunch of sheet wearing cowards.

16. I stand by what I said.
I'd love to still be alive to see the day when concepts like 'racial heritage' go the way of the dinosaur.

Does 'viva la raza' or 'Black Power' sound right at home at a klan rally, too? Also, why would *you* know what "sounds right at home at a Ku Klux Klan rally"??

In answer to this... First off, No. Proclamations of Hispanic or African American racial pride/superiority would be totally out of place at a Klan rally. But you know that, don't you?

Secondly, are you accusing me of being a member of the KKK? Seriously, how else am I to take that last question?
That's rich, coming from a former member of the Aryan Brotherhood. I've never been affiliated with any racist group. You seem pretty defensive of the whole 'ahm proud ah mah white culture and heritage' mindset.

I have a hard time separating an overweening sense of pride in one's race from an attitude of racial superiority.

30. Racial Superiority
No race is superior to another, period. You should learn the difference between supremacists & separatists. *Every* race has separatists, believe it or not. There are some Whites, Blacks, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Haitians, Iraqis, Iranians, and yes, even Jewish people who urge their people not to marry outside their race/ethnicity. However, they don't feel they are superior to the others, they just don't believe in race mixing.

Be proud of your race and your heritage, just remember that it applies to EVERYONE OF EVERY RACE, not just *your* race/ethnicity.

"You seem pretty defensive of the whole 'ahm proud ah mah white culture and heritage' mindset."

My grandmother was full blooded Cherokee - I actually started having internal conflicts about my 'white culture', so to speak. Should I be proud of my Cherokee Heritage, and in the process hate the 'white man' for stealing our land, raping our women & killing our men, women and children? Should I be glad that the 'white man' came along, otherwise I wouldn't be here right now? Wouldn't it better for me to just let it go, since it's something that happened way before I was born and there's nothing I can do about it anyways?

The past is the past. We can't change history, so we better learn from it instead. We need to focus on the present and the future and try to teach peace and acceptance.

BTW.. at what kind of rallies would proclamations of 'Viva la Raza!" or "Black Power, Black Pride!" be acceptable?

27. I have read many of your posts...
...and I respect your opinion and the road you took to get where you are now. That being said, I categorically disagree with you about being proud of my race (a term that is non-existent among anthropologists). I can only be proud of the things I have achieved. Being proud of your racial heritage is for the weak and tribal thinking; not to mention that it is more often than not the seed that blossoms into outright racism. We are all intertwined, the phenotypical characteristics of appearance are superficial. If one must be proud of one's racial heritage, that pride should encompass the entirety of humankind.

9. The way I read it....
there was lots of "race mixing" in the slavery days... and after.

There's gallons of mixed blood in the south. Some look white, some look black, but many in the south have ancestors who don't have the same skin pigment as they do.

The cretins who worry about "mixed blood" should instead worry that all their own forebears were human!

15. Attention racists! ....
There is NO biological basis for the concept of race. The differences among the races of humanity are too insignificant to justify the concept of race in the firsts place. There are far more differences amoung breeds of dog than there are among races of people. There ARE NO RACES.

After we punch that hole in the ozone layer out a little wider, the only people that are going to be around afterward, are folks with enough pigment in their skin to naturally protect them.

29. In this part of the Deep South most young people are not racist
Sure, there are still some ignorant knuckle draggers under 30 that buy into that crap, but most of the young people I meet are no longer concerned with the color of people's skin. Some I have met will pretend if they are around their racist parents but when they are on their own, they complain about having to pretend.

Of course, I do live in a town with two major universities and several other institutes of higher learning so maybe I am in a pocket of sweetness and light. But I recently spent time with construction crews and only found a very few of them to be openly prejudiced - and all of those were over fifty.

36. Whites conveniently forget their own history
The Supreme Court didn't strike down the prohibitions against mixed marriages until 1967.

The reason there was so much race mixing is not from marriage. From the time that Africans were dragged to these shores, black women were used for sexual convenience. They were the constant target of the masters and overseers. Rape of these women was business as usual, and having no power, there was nothing that black men could do to intervene.

These racists dumbshits are just going to have to die out. Thirty years we will not be having this conversation.

38. LOL
Come as one. Don't create other breeds. That's in the old Testament God told the Israel not to breed with other peoples. Just the Israels. And Hate don't come from God it comes from Satan. God said Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Then Jesus came and said, You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' " But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. -Matt. 5:43-44
God doesn't spread Hate the devil does. God give love and peace to all and the devil give hate and war. So maybe the south should read the New Testament again again.
