If I had to hear that damn phrase "My Friends" for four f'ing years,
I really WOULD have to leave the Country! That's all he says in every other sentence!

3. "My Friends, Do You Suffer From Faulty Elimination"
I can't listen to McCain without thinking about The Crazy Water Crystals radio
commercials I used to hear on the W Lee O'Daniels & His Crazy Hillbillies show
on the Texas border blaster radio stations. That was a laxative commercial.
They were talking' shit then & John McCain's still talkin' shit.

4. Don't worry, if elected, he would drop that pretense.

6. No he wouldn'. He talks like that when he speaks on the Senate floor too.
It's part of his speech pattern. Back in 2000, I thought it was just a silly thing he was using to try to show he was "one of us". Now, all I can do is scream at the TV and say "Damn it! I'm NOT YOUR FRIEND!"

7. Yeah, McCain's truly an MF'er. . .
Wonderful article in Slate that explained somewhat why we don't like that phrase, and oddly enough the author laid it to Harold Hill, The Music Man himself, for its present evocation of a cheap huckster, an old-time con man trying to put one over on all us rubes here in River City.

"My friends, you got trouble -- yes trouble -- right here in River City!"

McCain probably doesn't intend for it to grate as it does, but then, he's got a tin ear for peoples' real troubles so that shouldn't surprise us.

Why McCain Can't Stop Saying 'My Friends'

"Trouble in River City"

11. Agreed, after we had to endure 8 long tortuous years of Reagan doing it..
I didn't think it was possible, but McCain is even more irritating than St. Ronny. Dubya is in a class all by himself, he's actually entertaining to watch.
