Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 01:18 PM by HEyHEY
I was in the place cause my buddy got food, but despite my need for "food" I refused to buy anything. Because of this;

http://www.365gay.com/news/mcdonalds-caves-in-to-anti-gay-group-demands/

A DUer posted it yesterday and I'm glad they did, I may have given those fuckers my money last night had I not known.

Now THAT'S healthy politics.

2. What you mean is
Oh McDonald's -- now I have to boycott crap again.

I've been boycotting McDonald's for about 15 years now -- mostly because they serve crap.

4. I boycotted them for three years from 2004 to 2007.
Then I slowly boycotted them a little less, and a little less until I started going there once every couple of weeks (mostly for breakfast and the Paul Newman coffee).

3. Instead of a boycott, how about drive-thru civil disobedience.
Place a large, customized order at the drive-thru and then take-off without paying for or receiving your food.

5. Never mind the fact that many are independently owned and operated franchises.

15. You don't get it.
Franchisees pay royalties on sales. By not going there, you reduce sales and that "hits" corporate. Your drive-off scenario does the same thing PLUS directly hits the pocketbooks of the owner(s). That part has no bearing on corporate. In fact, you probably help them inadvertently as they supply the franchisee with supplies and product that you've now cost them that they will have to replace. If you don't want to give them your business, don't. But you're hurting someone else in the process.

Or maybe you do get it and intend to hurt the small-business owner for their guilt by association.

19. I would agree...
Unfortuneatly civil disobedience, at least for some, has moved in the last 40 years from sitting in at a cafe that is discriminiating based on color. Now it's sitting in a crowded intersection, blocking traffic for everybody who's trying to get to work, or stealing from businesses, just because you don't agree with them. Hit these greedy corporate bastards where it hurts; just don't shop there. Small businesses are hurting enough without us pulling crap like that.

20. You can get paid for using it as a restroom...

...but you have to get used to serving it to the customers.

11. I will continue to eat PBJ instead of Big Macs in the spirit of this boycott
as well as in the spirit of wanting to avoid digestive upset.

13. I haven't darkened their door for years and years.
My kids have never gone there. I won't subject them to that. McDonald's is disgusting on so many levels, it's hard to know where to start criticizing them.

25. I have not voluntarily ate at McD's
for 15 years or so.

I ate there last about 6 years ago, a friend wanted to stop and I was starving. I had an order of fries that left me in the bathroom off and on for 24 hours. I don't know if it was the GM potatoes, the type of shitty fryer oil used or the oil having turned rancid due to low-paid employees just not giving a shit, but I will never eat there again, I don't care how *green* or *socially liberal* they try to be. They are evil.

Please, from a cook trained to cook real food and happy to cook real food, eat LOCAL, avoid chains, it's all plastic, pre-fab, frozen, nasty stuff anyways.
