Sampson, still in his office after retiring (according to Keith's show tonight). Rummy still has an office in the Pentagon and will "until he finishes going through his papers". Wanna bet Kiley is still at Walter Reed too?

Is the resignation just for the press, and business as usual once the announcement is made?

Seems the only one that really went away after resigning was Libby ... probably because they suddenly didn't know who he was anymore.

:wtf: Have you ever quit a job and then kept showing up anyway ... and no one seemed to care that you were still there?

3. I think they pile up, like dirty laundry, somewhere in a corner, in Texas.
Whenever George needs one of them back, he just has the help shake the wrinkles out and send the chosen one back to DC.

5. Ordinary peons get (almost) frog-marched to the door these days.
Isn't it nice to know these people are so in touch with the way ordinary folks live? :puke:

6. they consider it their 'redeployment'
since they never got around to serving in the first place.

silver bullets, wooden stakes, holy water/mirrors/crucifixes, don't seem to have any effect.

7. It's a peculiar strategy. Retire the person officially, get the heat off, and let them
continue unofficially. Remember Richard Perle, head of Defense Policy Board? He "resigned" from his position because the press spotlight was too bright on his wrongdoing. But, he's still on the Defense Policy Board, whether or not he is officially the head.

8. sure, all the time
in fact I am doing it right now, except in this case I didn't quit, I was fired. 6 weeks ago. and I am still there, until they replace me and get that person trained, and I find something else. it'll all be about 15 weeks.

9. So they are all Milton in "Office Space"
I wonder if they all have red Swingline staplers as well.

That is, unless Cheney took the staplers away.
