2008 Elections
by Chris Rowthorn | October 12, 2008 - 3:52pm

At this point, if you haven't figured out who to vote for in the upcoming American presidential election, can you please do us all a big favor and just not vote? I mean, if you can't see the major differences between the two tickets by this time, then do you really think you have any business in a voting booth on November 4th? Wouldn't you rather just spend that day deciding which reality-based TV show to watch?

Why is it that every four years, the fate of the nation is held in the hands of a bunch of people who can't seem to see any significant difference between the platforms, ideology and voting records of the Republicans and Democrats? And why is it that a large number of these folks seem to live in Ohio. Don't get me wrong, I mean no disrespect to the people of Ohio, at least not to those who have figured out by now that McCain and Obama are not actually twins separated at birth.

I mean, who are these people anyway? Who are these "great undecided"? When these people were kids, did they watch The Wizard of Oz and think, "That Good Witch of the North seems okay, but I'm also kind of drawn to the Wicked Witch of the West, despite her annoying cackling laugh, that gang of winged monkeys she hangs around with, and that inconvenient habit of melting when doused with water."

1. My ex for one......
said to my kids that he wished he had a chart of the candidates positions on the issues. One of my children said, we charted that at school. She gave him a copy today. He said, 'pretty cool'.

One reason why "that guy" is my 'ex'. ;-)

2. Our system was designed to be dependent on an interested and informed public.
We have neither and this is what we get, one party with two faces and the illusion of choice.

Of course Obama is less objectionable than that senile thief, but "I suck less" is not an endorsement. More war, more oligarchy, more totalitarianism, more ruling class welfare, and nothing for us.

I'm enthused.

yay.

3. It makes you wonder, doesn't it?
I live in Texas and frequently talk to people who should know better but they don't. What makes it even more more mystifying is that some of these people are pretty damned smart. The problem is, intellect aside, they just don't think. It's damned frustrating trying to talk with them!
