Coming to DC in a couple of weeks and may have some free time;
Anyone recommend some cool hangouts or sites to see (other than the obvious stuff) to get a refreshing dose of anything progressive before heading back to my red-state home?

Thanks

2. Take the Segway tour.
It's fun and gives you a quick 2 hour tour.

6. I've heard the newseum is cool too.
I was going to suggest the spy museum as well, although I haven't seen it yet.

7. Haven't been to the newseum yet, thanks for reminding me about it.
Oh, and I second the thread below that says to go to Great Falls--it's spectacular, and a great place for a picnic.

9. The National Building Museum
and the Food Court at the Indian Museum on the mall.

I used to recommend the Botanical Gardens but it's just not the same since they rebuit it (used to be the oldest building on the Mall).
