Here in Illinois, we have an initiative for a proposed Constitution Convention. I'm still not sure whether I should vote for it...it seems like an invitation for social conservatives to push amendments banning abortion and same-sex marriage.

2. I've been donating to defeat it.
My ONLY hope is that it needs 60% to pass.

including amending the constitution to say that life begins at conception (:eyes:), the eliminating obsolete provisions from the constitution (it is on the ballot every couple of years), lowering the age of eligibility to serve in the state legislature from 25 to 21 (i'm leaning toward voting against that one, i'm 27 and don't know shit about a lot of shit and doubt many 21 year olds know much more), an amendment requiring employers to provide health insurance and a state sales tax increase.

i've got a lot of studying to do in the next few weeks

5. many earth shattering in california: prop 2 to give some protection
to far animals would outlaw cages so tiny the animals can not stand up and sit down (I kid you not). prop 8 would ban gay marriage, and the haters are out in full force!
an abortion prop, and many more....

and 55% of our ballots in the state are tabulated by Diebold tabulators.

6. In CA, we have the same thing we have every election cycle: parental notification for abortion.
This time around, it includes more burarcy for health care providers and all kinds of anti-abortions measures. We have this on every ballot. Nothing new.

This year, we're revisiting the "I hate gay people" nonsense with a ban on gay marriage, except all the out-of-state money decided to go for a CA Constitutional Amendment. They're telling folks that gay people can sure churches who won't marry them and that teachers are going to teach kindergartners how to have gay sex.

All decent people will, of course, vote NO on both these measures.

It is such a waste of money.
