7. Explain, please...
I have just emerged from my latest lost-my-retirement-induced semi-conscious state. I won't be able
to last long here in the present, so type fast.

10. EXPLANATION (Please Read)
AIP and Witch-hunters are two "associations" Sarah
Palin and her husband have had for years in Alaska.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eniG9l_7its

AIP (Alaskan Independence Party) is a Christian Secessionist movement
which Palin was informally associated with (and her husband was a
card-carrying member of) for years since the 1970s.

The founder of AIP said that "the fires of hell are like frozen glaciers compared
to my hatred for the American government, and I won't be buried under their Damn Flag."

In 1991, around the time Todd officially became a member.

In 2007, AIP's vice chairman said that Sarah Palin was AIP's
preferred candidate for governor and said she represented the
model for AIP candidates: "You infiltrate... (like) the
Christian independence movement, the free state movement...
stick a Republican label on it."

Around the same time, newly-elected Gov. Palin addressed the
AIP national convention, telling them "keep up the good work."

It's all in this video here:

Party founder Vogler describes his "burning hatred" for American government

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eniG9l_7its

The Witch-hunter story is better explained in the following two DU threads,
and in the following video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl4HIc-yfgM

Palin linked to yet another fundie witch hunting "Prayer Warrior" (and AIP supporter)

Palin Watched Video of Muthee Witch Hunt Before Taking Stage To Pray With Muthee

Basically "witch hunters" are Evangelical witch doctors
(literally) who go from town to town (like in Africa or medieval Europe) blaming
witches for the ailments afflicting people in their congregation. Palin has
personally associated with and asked for the blessing of TWO such people.

One of them was an AIP supporter/activist. The other was an African Evangelical
priest who was responsible for a riot in Kenya where a suspected witch was nearly
stoned and her pet snake was killed by hysterical populace. The latter priest
blessed Palin at the start of her political campaign, calling on God to give her
success in politics, as we see in the vid.

from a 1999 Christian Science Monitor article: http://www.csmonitor.com/1999/0923/p15s1.html

"According to accounts of the witchhunt circulated on evangelical websites such as Prayer Links Ministries, after Pastor Muthee declared Mama Jane a witch, the townspeople became suspicious and began to turn on her, demanding that she be stoned . . . Public outrage eventually led the police to raid her home, where they fired gunshots, killing a pet python which they believed to be a demon."

Palin begins her political campaign with blessing from Pastor Muthee:

all the rage at Philly game but he's AWOL. Did Mccain tell him to lay low or is he up to no good?

9. Hanging around Maine bein' cool:
"PALMYRA, Maine — Alaska’s “First Dude” Todd Palin received an enthusiastic welcome to Maine Saturday afternoon while attending a barbecue and pressing the flesh at the Moosehead Trading Post.

Palin, husband of Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, apparently prefers the “First Dude” moniker, as many of the women in the estimated crowd of 500 that filled the trading post’s parking lot in anticipation of pallin’ around with Palin, were wearing pink sweat shirts emblazoned with the phrase “Maine’s 2nd District welcomes Alaska’s 1st Dude.”

Palin wasn’t on hand to give a formal political speech, but he did say a few words about his wife, Sarah, and Republican presidential candidate John McCain before wading into the crowd to shake hands and sign autographs.

Political observers believe McCain has a chance to win the state’s electoral vote from Maine’s 2nd Congressional District. Palin’s visit to Central Maine and another planned for Presque Isle on Sunday were scheduled to take advantage of that possibility..."

15. So where's the chatter people are calling for?
By the standards of this poll, there should be a dozen active threads on this, not one.

17. I give up
Even odds this thread will be dead by tomorrow as folks insist not to go on the attack.

Either people want to adress this issue thru surrogates (meaning here) or they don't
want to address it at all (in which case they should vote "no, wait till 2012, we
can destroy the Republicans then") but unfortunately the REPUBLICANS will have no
qualms using this against her in the primaries... this is Dems only chance to use
this issue, and you want to save powder?

This will be a dead issue in a month, the time to use this in the media is now, or
never -- nobody will believe this in hindsight if it's not in the media now. They
will assume it's just campaign rhetoric.

16. I think G Gordon Liddy is the hammer myself.
mcCain has taken money from him this year, he has appeared on his show and greeted him as "old friend" this year.
Convicted Watergate burglar. Plotted to kill Jack Anderson.
Liddy is a horrible person. He encouraged people at Waco to shoot ATF agents, and told them to shoot them in the head or groin to avoid armor. He has plotted to do many worse things than Ayres ever did and is totally unrepentant.

And you can tie him and McCain together really easy. This should be the hammer that pounds mcCain into the ground. And Obama himself should start doing it if the Ayres attacks do not stop. he should make an ad about it and then the news stations will run it over and over like they have done with the Ayres ads of McCain.

18. Palin is the one who wants to secede from the union.
Liddy, like Ayers, is a known quantity in Washington. As Bill Maher pointed out, why can't Dems stay on point when it comes to the opponent? Even when he said this, his correspondent replied with a tiresome laundry list of "other issues" that are "equally damaging to McCain/Palin", thus drowning out the focus on any one issue and effectively dismissing Maher's allegations by watering them down every bit as much as if a Republican commentator had distracted from the issue with OBAMA's allegations. Maher had to steer the subject back to Palin's secessionist / dominionist connections, which are the ISSUE here.

19. More on AIP founder Volger, invited by Iran to speak at UN 1993 before killed selling explosives.
During the period when Todd Palin was officially an AIP member.

The guy who confessed to killing Volger wasn't a secessionist. He was buying explosives from Volger; Volger argued and the guy killed him and buried him in the woods. The guy would have gotten away with it except he had other trouble with the law. He was caught in a burning house, and confessed to the police on a cell phone. The guy thought he was going to die. However, the police found him alive by a chimney after the house collapsed.

Volger ran for governor in the 80's. In the debate, he acknowledged that he wanted to build a road down the Alaskan coast using nuclear devices to clear out the glaciers. His comment was that if you watched what way the wind blew, you wouldn't have any trouble.

Yes, you read that right, he was apparently invited to the debate by the media... and Barr / Nader wasn't in 2008.

22. See this thread for an explanation of who AIP is, and who Sarah's "witch-hunter" (faith healer) is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eniG9l_7its

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4221293&mesg_id=4221293

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl4HIc-yfgM

A witch-doctor or witch-hunter is a faith healer who believes in witchcraft.

They are found in both obscure Christian (e.g. Pentecostal) and pagan sects.

Sarah has been blessed by two of them in her church, watched a video on how
one of them drove a witch out of a small town in Kenya with an armed mob
(approvingly) and then recieved his blessing. Her church believes Alaska
is a refuge from Armageddon and believes in the 1,000 year (post-Armageddon)
theocracy before Jesus can return.

AIP is a movement composed of pentecostals, racists and survivalists that
seeks to secede from the union. Its founder (who was running the party when
Todd and Sarah joined) said that "the fires of hell are like frozen glaciers
compared to my hatred for the American government, and I won't be buried
under their damn flag."
He was killed trying to sell explosives shortly
before delivering a speech to the UN sponsored by the ambassadors of Iran,
who was supporting AIP's secessionist cause at the time and presumably
sought to have an "Alaskan interest section" at the UN thru Iran. The
Palins were active in the party at the time, attending almost every convention
during the same period, and continued to be active, with Todd Palin re-registering
as a Republican in 2007 and Gov. Sarah Palin addressing the AIP convention in
2008 and giving its keynote address
several years before that.
