Fundie Freak Preacher says good Christian folk must stop Buddha and Allah from getting Obama elected
 :freak:

from ThinkProgress:

Minister delivers divisive invocation at McCain event. (Updated with audio)»

The Iowa Independent reports that a minister who spoke at John McCain’s rally in Davenport, IA today injected a divisive statement into his invocation. Here’s what Pastor Arnold Conrad said:

I would also add, Lord, that your reputation is involved in all that happens between now and November, because there are millions of people around this world praying to their god — whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah — that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their god is bigger than you, if that happens. So I pray that you will step forward and honor your own name with all that happens between now and election day.

UPDATE: Listen to Conrad’s remarks here: http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/11/invocation-davenport/

1. What a disgusting so called "human being"..and he is supposed to be a man of God?
If there is a God, he should strike that man with a bolt of lightning for talking like that...

16. that's a bit unfair
"Hindu" is being used simply as an adjective.

But overall, that's the stupidest prayer I've ever heard. If God is omniscient and omnipotent, isn't more than just a tiny bit presumptuous and insulting to lecture the Big Dude Upstairs about the dire threat an Obama electoral victory poses to His reputation? This is the sort of bozo would presume to lecture the Supreme Being before he'd ever consider praying for a scrap of wisdom or compassion...

In a rare appearance before a large crowd today, The Lord delivered a brief message through his interpreter, The Metatron.

"Buddha and Allah are my close friends and, for the good of the universe, we've all decided that Obama is the best choice for President. I don't know these people who are calling themselves my followers, and I don't want to know them."

where I use Mithra as the main deity... I can take potshots and not be too damn obvous

But as I read on it... the similarities were so funny.

I even considered opening the Temple of Mithra for real... though I'll admit, I preffer the reefs under the Goddess ... and the crucifixion is not as cruel

13. Hindu not a god, Buddah either and Allah is ... God!
A Hindu is not a god but the believer of the Hinduist religion. And I still do not understand their religion, although I tried. I have had two Hindus explain it to me one day and it sounds like they had more chances of teaching me the rules of Cricket.

Buddhism does not have a god, at least not the creationist and omnipotent concept of god that the Jews, Christians and Muslims have in common.

Also Allah is God in Arabic, not the God of the Muslim. Arab-speaking Christians, for instance the Maronites, pray in Arabic and God is named Allah. Was a shock to a friend of mine who married a Lebanese man.

Dieu, Deus, Dios, Dio, Gott, God, Allah = same entity.

How many times have I had to explain that the Muslims worship the same God and also consider Jesus a prophet?

The media also have a habit of not translating "Allah" into "God" when translating the words of a Muslim into English. That is something that I despise, because it only perpetuates the ignorance.

17. The real whackjob fundies deny the common religious thread between Allah and their God
Jack Chick (the cartoon Bible tract guy) has at least one full-length screed about Allah being an Arab "Moon god."

These folks are pretty industrious about creating alternate realities (like the dinosaur footprints Palin "saw" with human footprints inside)

http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Names_of_G-d/Elah/elah.html

YES, that is an ALEPH and the person who wrote this website is using "weasel letters" to avoid
the fact that it is actually spelled "ALLAH" in Aramaic lettering.

(Aramaic has its own Hebraic alphabet and Allah / Elah are the same word in Aramaic!)

Didn't realize that was kosher in Christian circles.

So much for monotheism, not that most forms of Christianity are particularly monotheistic anyway.

35. So, in Arnie Conrad's theology, God needs Arnie's coaching to stay out of Underachiever's Jail...
Guess it's plain to see that an omniscient, omnipresent, higher consciousness actually **needs** Pastor Arnold Conrad to squire it around Iowa, at least. The only logical conclusion to be made is that...Arnold Conrad is, in fact, God!

Now, let's get out there -- and remember, our immortal reputations are involved!

There's a lot of "my God is stronger than other gods" mentality out there. The problem being that's very theologically wrong from a Christian standpoint; there aren't "other" gods out there according to doctrine.

Actually, I think I hate them. They are wrong about almost everything they pontificate about.

I really believe the time has come to tax those bastards. Otherwise, I wish someone would franchise mega-science centers incorporating charter schools which focus on logic, math, science, and liberal politics. It is more than a little annoying that my tax dollars are being use to fund the KKK - creationism mentality that has all but destroyed our world.

Little of value has come out of religion over the past thousands of years, and it is high time to turn the page on this mental illness.
