SNL skit suggestion: the Mackenzie Brothers reunite for a discussion about Sarah, hockey, and Phila
The idea came to me after watching the Flyers/Rangers pre-game show live.

7. You're not an old fart. But so what if it was SCTV, it's perfect for SNL.
We need more Canadian humor.

16. The Brewers Retail shops in Ont. are destinations unto themselves.
Viva la selection!

It reminds me of the twelfth floor of J. L. Hudsons at Christmas time.

9. Actually, they were guest hosts once, at the height of their popularity.
Maybe they could bring 'em back. I suspect they'd enjoy that.

5. How about a slap shot homage to Paul Newman?
With Todd Palin as the Goalie and Paul Newman turning skating around the cage calling Sarah a lesbian.

"I know! I know! Because I slept with her!"

26. That skit started because of show-length differences...
between the US and Canadian broadcasts of SCTV. The Canadian broadcasts weren't allowed as much commercial time as the American broadcasts, so additional material was needed to fill the extra time, to be broadcast in Canada only. Moranis and Thomas came up with skit that played on all the Canadian stereotypes they could think of. They used to film it after hours, usually after a few wobbly pops, and basically made it all up as they went. It was only later, once the appeal of the characters became obvious, that they were added to the "main" part of the show, and put on the air for US audiences too.

SCTV was the shit :)

Sid
