Mother of christ, I just came from the supermarket which is loaded with out of staters filling their carriages and route 16 is bumper to bumper from the Kanc to N Conway Village. That's about 7 miles. Traffic has been like this since 1:00 this afternoon. Unreal.

Oh, and gas is down to $3.25 per gallon here....HERE in the north country.

3. As beautiful as I'm sure it is up there right now,
it's the last place I'd want to be on Columbus Day weekend. Good luck.

That was back in the '60s and 70s -- before the Attack of the Outlet Malls.

Oh, was it ever sweet back then - forest, field, and mountain.

But then...the greed, the outlets, the hordes, and the MONUMENTAL, UNENDING TRAFFIC TIE UPS.

PTOOEY.

6. You wouldn't believe the north south road.
And Home Depot and Lowe's and parking lot lights that makes rt 16 look like a stadium.

7. Heavy traffic in North GA mountains.
Always a peak time for us, but also we have found in down economic times, many people from Atlanta and other metro areas who would normally travel much farther, settle for a trip to close-by mountains.

Gas here dropped just this week from close to $4 to $3.25.
