We CAN get through this
Obama needs to come up with a singular message about the economic crisis. Even though McCain is bouncing around like a squirrel on acid, he will get some traction because the gullible need something to grasp onto. Obama should resurrect the old "We Can" signs and start telling people that we will get through this and we can do it by getting together and trusting our American ingenuity, etc... you know, show strong leadership instead of reacting to McCain's jabs and stabs and crabs. This election thing ain't over and wild swings in the other direction are still possible.

Remember when Al Gore (in his campaign) said that America needed to invest in green/clean technology, develop it and sell it to the world? What a difference that would have made in everything over the last eight years. All we have manufactured in Bush's eight years is hate and greed.

1. What do you think would give McCain traction?
He tried to bullshit everyone about how he was going to save the day and fly into Washington re: the Bailout. Nothing. He tried the "Obama wants to teach sex to your preschooler". No dice. He is trying the "Obama hangs out with terrorists". Nada. What's his next trick?

3. Obama must keep it simple and honest here...
He needs to place blame squarely where blame is due in the creation of this mess, but no more. He needs to point out the underlying resource realities we need to adjust to, (and Republicans have failed to adjust to) rather than placing the blame only on policies: What we don't want is people getting the idea that he can wave a magic wand and fix things, only to see the economy continue to suffer for some time with him in office. I like "we can", but the message might need to be more like "we can change"...so the idea gets out that this may take something more than a policy shift, it may need to be something that we the people need to sacrifice for.
