Crazy fucker...stockpiled guns, ammo, hunted his own food, and lived in a cabin in the Pennsylvania woods.

Needless to say, I tried to stay on his good side.

11. On the other hand, I have a friend with a small farm who cans and preserves his own food

has tons of fruit and nut trees (that he's been planting for 15 years) and has a nice flock of chooks.

Not self sufficient, by any means- and anything but a survivalist (he hates guns) but he and his wife make a nice little supplemental income, and get a bit of exercise and pleasure tending their little spread.
