mitigate the Ayers thing. I think he is going to have to fight fire with fire and hit him on the Columbian terrorist http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7327148
guilt by assoc. as well or the other Nazi infiltrated group thing that was posted earlier.

Maybe wrong since he's tying it to the dereg and economy...but I don't know it's enough

guess we'll find out!

5. No point in escalating it. Obama only brought up Keating 5 because McCain brought up Ayers/Rezko.
McCain was the one who started flinging mud. He said it would be about pocketbook issues, not about personalities. He reneged, so the appropriate response is one that is proportional to the attack and not more.

8. People are more concerned with the economy...maybe that is their strategy....
Proportional "guilt by assoc" could still include the Columbian Terrorist ties

7. Getting Keating 5 out there will fucking DESTROY McCain.
Ayers and the other shit McCain is rolling out is a lot of absolutely nothing that can be easily debunked as lies. Keating 5, however, is the truth, and McCain was the worst perpetrator of the 5. Once this gets airtime, and it will, McCain will be on the defensive, and Obama can continue to talk about the issues, so you needn't worry yourself.

13. McCain was "admonished" by the Senate
And as I stated in a LTTE about this last week, admonishment while sounding fairly innocuous is about as strong a penalty as members of the House and Senate are willing to place upon other members since they know that next time it might be their turn in the barrel

to tie Obama to its former CEO, and it fell flat. This is all rehashed crap, and I think those Americans who fear losing their homes, jobs, and/or healthcare won't really respond in the way McCain, and perhaps you, hope.

McCain: The Most Reprehensible of the Keating Five
The story of "the Keating Five" has become a scandal rivaling Teapot Dome and Watergate
By Tom Fitzpatrick
Published on November 29, 1989
You're John McCain, a fallen hero who wanted to become president so desperately that you sold yourself to Charlie Keating, the wealthy con man who bears such an incredible resemblance to The Joker.

Obviously, Keating thought you could make it to the White House, too.

He poured $112,000 into your political campaigns. He became your friend. He threw fund raisers in your honor. He even made a sweet shopping-center investment deal for your wife, Cindy. Your father-in-law, Jim Hensley, was cut in on the deal, too.

Nothing was too good for you. Why not? Keating saw you as a prime investment that would pay off in the future.

and looky here..chump change by today's standard..
More than 21,000 mostly elderly investors lost their life savings. This total came to about $285 million. The federal government was liable for $2 billion to cover Lincoln's losses when it seized the institution.

15. Keating 5 is relevant because the deregulation followed by
the S&L Crisis and then the Resolution Trust Corporation's gulping down savings and loans and with them the life savings of elderly people and others was a rehearsal for this mega-scandal. It's as if McCain and his friends in the first Bush administration practiced how to steal and then get rich off an economic bail-out back then and now, at the end of the Reagan era they are really cashing in.

That is how scam artists operate. They create a scam, a process that fools people and that they can use repeatedly. At first the pay-offs are small, but they perfect whatever they are doing -- sort get their game right -- and then they pull a really big scam. That is what the right-wingers including the Bush's but also McCain have done over the years. Remember that a couple of the Bush boys, both Neil and Jeb were involved in the S&L scandal along with John McCain. This is a repeat performance, sort of the grand finale.

That is why the Keating 5 scandal is so relevant right now. It presaged what we are seeing right now. I betcha' that some of the same players are involved. Wink.

18. I don't think so either
The heavier artillery is the betrayal by McCain of veterans time and time again. This can be hammered and hammered and hammered. The material would never run out.
