So I was taking my LSAT today...
...and I saw someone that didn't quite look like the rest of us. Buzz cut, Oakley's, those stripey-sport zebra Hammer pants that were popular in the early 90's.

He looked like he was in the mood for a conversation, and we were all nervous as hell, so I commented on something and we started talking.

"Where are you from?" I asked.

"Well, for the last 5 years, I've been living in Alaska."
"Where at?" I inquired.
"Wasilla." He grinned.

I went totally silent. I then said, "Holy crap. Really? So, you must be asked a lot about what you think about the Governor. How is she?"

"Oh, she's great," he said. "We were buddies and I had her back when people started coming after her. A lot of us from the Wasilla government are in DC now."

"Why's that?" I asked.

"Oh, we're preparing for the inauguration."

:wow:

that those teachers who prey on their male students do. Hmmm.

6. LSAT is taken by a lot of people who aren't teens
my dad didn't get his law degree until age 40

8. I'm 27. Most people taking the LSAT are 20+
And I saw quite a few people my age, and in their 30's as well.

This guy was in the Army for a while and then transferred up to Wasilla for 5 years.

11. I'm really not. The reason I'm posting this story is b/c I found it so astounding.
He said he worked with the Wasilla government and lived in Wasilla for the last five years.

I'd give you his name, if I had it, but we never got past the niceties....

I just thought it was the most random, incredible thing. Thankfully it took my mind off LSAT for a moment.

16. I just can't imagine why a small town 'government' would
be working on a federal situation like an inauguration?

It makes no sense at all.

Hope you did well on the test. I took it. It's a killer.

17. Hmm...actually it makes sense to me.
1.) Personal ties probably go very far in Wasilla
2.) There's plenty of areas to help and volunteer in many areas of campaigning
3.) Not a whole heck of a lot to do in Alaska

All those things combined, I don't see that it would be out of the ordinary for someone having worked with Palin to be working on their campaign.

But who knows, he could be a horrible, horrible, pre-LSAT liar.

22. That's so interesting you say that - I really wanted to ask
But was afraid that he'd judge me as negative towards her, and I really needed to use his analog watch over his shoulder to pace myself on the test - and had to ask him if he'd let me.

I SHOULD'VE ASKED THOUGH

25. Oh I understand. It's just that I've heard so many really stupid reasons
why some vote for or against a candidate. Most are silly or downright stupid! I had one person tell me they would never vote for McNuts because he's ugly! I had another person tell me they were voting for Palin because she's HOT! Many say "because I like him" when responding on either principal candidate.

9. Fashion is not a big priority in really-cold places, I've found.
It's too cold to worry about how you look.

What did he mean by: "a lot of us from the Wasilla government are in DC now"

He wasn't talking about himself, was he?

18. I believe he was talking about people that have worked w/Sarah or know her.
Supporters in Wasilla. He mentioned himself that he worked in the Wasilla government; I'm not sure if that was still his gig when he came down, or if he found subsequent employment.

10. What kind of an LSAT score do you think he will pull? I imagine
he will go to Liberty University, where a high score would probably be a detriment.

Best of luck with yours, mine was a day in 1967 I would just as soon forget. I really did well on it though, which kept me out of Southeast Asia.

12. Was this guy a typical college student...
...as far as age goes.? Did he look like he was in his very early 20's?

Obviously, people of all ages take the LSAT, but if this guy was in his early
20's--he must have been a college student while Palin was the Gov.

So, he was in Wasilla for the past five years? She's been in Juneau, in the
Gov's office for the past 2, correct?

Is there a college in Wasilla that he was attending? Palin wasn't there.
He wasn't working for her, correct--so why was he there? And if he
was so close with her, why wasn't he in Juneau?

Just thinking out loud. Maybe he was a name dropper.

15. Did you know Alaska has no medical schools or law schools?
That's what he told me. I didn't know that.

He seemed like he was a bit older than me. I'm 27.

I have no idea about the veracity of his statements, but he seemed like a nice, friendly, normal guy. Army-type. I'm inclined to believe people people's histories when they tell them to me. My sense is that he really did know her.

21. No clue.
I'm super-perfectionistic but also prone to the attending anxieties that entails...good skills, but they're definitely affected by the test environment. Got through all the sections, but didn't ace the LG section.

We shall see. I'd be happy w/165 or above. :) If I don't hit that mark, I will for certain be retaking in Dec.

23. good luck--let us know when you get the results!
One thing in your favor is that that guy's results are going to be in the pool too... should be good for at least a tiny bit of a percentile point for everybody else.

Seriously though--congratulations and good luck!

he's putting together his transition team and all...why is he so sure of himself? I just don't like the way these things sound...I know they all put together a team, but are not usually so vocal about it...

27. Yeah. It's like, one of a few things....
1.) They know McCain will for certain be inaugurated.
2.) They don't know, but they hope really bad, and it's a 'talking point' that they aren't 'campaigning,' they're 'preparing for the inauguration.
3.) I don't know. I'm drunk.
