"October Surprise" (I should be a fiction writer)
Palin's been a drag on their ticket.

Palin has been little more than a prop.

She is far, far outside their inner circle.

They are tired of her.

But they can't fire her.

So .......

Troopergate.

First they pretty successfully put it off until after the election.

But then some judge made some ruling and now, suddenly, in a few days, actually, we're gunna hear more shit about it. Imagine that.

That's the out for them. Some shit talking about partisan politics and partisan judges and legislating from the bench. You've heard all these tunes before.

Sarah and Toad return to Wasilla to stand and fight.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

The judicial proceedings turn downright ugly for Toad. Talk of jail time swirls. Things move at an ever accelerating pace. Arctic Annie is openly ill tempered.

At McLame Central, Steve Schmidt defends Palin vigorously. But rumors persist. (One key rumor holds that after he turned away from the press to explain the campaign's position, Schmidt was seen to turn red in the face and scalp. He did, however, manage to contain the gales of laughter until out of sight from the gathered stenographers.)

On Tuesday, October 28, Palin resigns from the ticket as Toad is indicted. Tom Ridge steps in to fill the ticket gap.

**********

My ability to write fiction ends there ........ can you finish the story?

1. McBush's judgement will be called into play as to why he put her on the ticket to begin with
That would be his 3:00 AM call and he failed miserably.

Also all the fundies will stay home because of Tom Ridge's pro-choice stance.

McBush's judgement will be called into play as to why he put her on the ticket to begin with.

And given his Regan-esque behavior and symptoms, having his judgment scrutinized is a luxury McCain just can't afford. That's why I think it won't happen. And what's so great about Tom Ridge, anyway?

2. Good Story but that's too late in the season

it would be the kiss of death for the Goopers! If it would happen at all and I don't think it will (I think they're stuck with her) it would happen with in the next week. I think she did just well enough to be kept on the ticket. Even if your scenario played out or mine...voters minds are starting to cement...and for us, it looks like in a good way. Remember by Oct 15 30% of the nation will have voted by absentee...doesn't mean they couldn't "lose" ballots tho'. IMHO

6. Oh how sweet ......
.... an ending that is worse than winning Massachusetts only.

Be still my heart.

8. Nope I see him winning
SC, MS, AR, TN, KY, AL, UT, WY, SD, OK, WV, TX 4 of the 5 of NE electoral votes and AZ being a toss. If we give him AZ that would be: 127 electoral votes to Obama's 411 not too bad!!!

9. The Obama camp
would use this to full advantage by highlighting the "lack of good judgement" the Palin pick was. There would also be some pretty outraged fundies who apparently love Palin.
