1. too small for what?
obviously there are various applications and this will suit some and not others.

It is bigger than a scooter, and will keep the rain off of you.

2. Have you ever been to Europe? Small cars and mopeds and public trans.
are the main modes of transportation... Actually, I've never needed a car abroad... Its amazing what public works can really look like..

25. They are driven
on the Autobahn. Go fast too. I imagine the electric version will do very well in Europe as well. As has been said many times, "size isn't what matters";).

8. Smart Car
They're actually very safe in accidents.

Crashed into a solid barrier at 70 MPH and you can still open the door afterwards.

9. I don't think its too small, but
there are a lot of soccer mom's out there would never get one. Here in the USA, the Big3 think's everybody the same and everybody needs to drive gas-guzaling SUV's.
I'd bet if they offered these (or something like it)over here, they would sell (even 7 years ago before gas $$ was an issue).

10. The gas versions (smart cars) are already on the road...
I've seen them on interstate and major highways in Colorado... Pretty zippy little cars...

When we have all the Hummers and other mega SUV's parked at the side of the road with increasing gas prices (just the facts, my hummer-loving colleagues), things will get a lot safer...

11. totally practical for someone like me
This would work for me--I never clock more than 90 miles to get to work. In fact, 20 or 25 would be the max.

I've not been in one but people who have tell me that even though they appear small, they're quite comfortable inside.

I would really love to have something like this--and perhaps we could have if we didn't have a fool like bush in office. All those billions spent in Iraq could have been spent developing and getting a car like this put into distribution.

15. They are also very safe.

They put a lot of resources into developing the car frame.

Their bet on a gasser Smart Car has not paid off, but they may recoup their losses by using the platform for EV and small diesel powerplants (VW Lupo 3L powerplant).

12. Another car I can't buy
Nothing about plans to bring it to the US. I guess the only electric cars US citizens are allowed to have are golf carts or 100K sex toys.

22. ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soup_Nazi

When Jerry and George get to the soup stand, George follows the procedure but notices that he did not get bread with his soup. Jerry tells him to let it go but he asks for some, and is told he will have to pay for it. George objects, and quickly has his money returned and his soup taken back with the Soup Nazi's famous catchphrase "No soup for you!".

26. Yes.
Even long-legged Dutchmen can get in and out of Smartcars with little difficulty and I haven't heard any complaints from my friends who own this brand.
