Franken Bypasses Coleman as Voters React to Attack Ads(43-34)
http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/30451119.html?elr=KArksi8cyaiUo8cyaiUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU

By Kevin Duchschere , Star Tribune

DFL U.S. Senate candidate Al Franken has moved into his first solid lead over incumbent Republican Norm Coleman, according to a new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.

The survey, conducted Tuesday through Thursday by Princeton Survey Research Associates International among 1,084 likely Minnesota voters, shows Franken leading Coleman 43 to 34 percent. Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley is supported by 18 percent of respondents.

Franken’s lead is outside the poll’s margin of sampling error, plus or minus 3.7 points.

For Coleman, there is little good news in the poll. The number of voters who view him unfavorably continues to grow, the number who see him favorably is falling, and his job-approval rating has slipped to 38 percent — his lowest ever in the Minnesota Poll.

Coleman led Franken by four points in last month’s Minnesota Poll.

4. The sound of flat-lining....
Coleman and O'Reilly's careers

I don't want O'Reilly dead. Just out of work and impoverished just so he knows what it is really like

9. The take-away from this article is that the attack ads are BACKFIRING!
Coleman's attack ads are seen as unfair, mean spirited and probably untrue.

12. What's happened that Franken is now leading Coleman?
Is it guilt by association with Coleman and the economic crisis associated with the Repubs?

13. Coleman and the NRSC have run the most vicious attack ads against Franken.
Edited on Sat Oct-04-08 10:31 AM by myrna minx
These ads are attacking Franken *personally* not on his policies. They are so over the top, including claiming that Franken writes rape porn and that Franken is unstable and unhinged. They are really awful, and they run--all. the. time.
They are also bundled with McCain ads. A few of Coleman's ads were of "bowling buddies" , that are so insulting only to the intellegence of Minnesotans that they seem to mock Minnesotans, and making us look like stoopid bumpkins. Ah, republican "humor".

Bowling Buddies:

Attack Ads:
From the Republican Party:

an online ad:

You can find more ads on You Tube. Coleman's campaign has been shameful and despicable. He has nothing to run on so all he can do is attack Franken personally.

19. Seriously. This nasty campaign rivals the nasty campaign against Wellstone in 2002.
Remember that 527 that showed Wellstone, laughing while holding a champaign flute with the USSR flag billowing in the background? These are NASTY bastards.

22. Yep. Add in the "fishing buddy" cheese-fest ad that Normie is running and it's not working.
Norm's got to go.

The vile Bachman is next.

15. People are reacting to Coleman's and the NRSC's attack ads, which have run
such despicable and insulting ads, that Minnesotans are sick of it.

16. Here In Colorado The NRSC Ads
aren't working too well against Mark Udall.

I phoned the NRSC office yesterday and said to the nice lady, that out of all the despicable ads running, theirs are the most sleezy of them all. They've got Mark Udall looking as if he's a child rapist - lurking in scary dark places.

20. These ads are beyond the pale, and in this election year, they are reflecting
poorly against Coleman, even if he "technically" isn't running them. I'm glad they are backfiring in Colorado too. :hi: Not this time.

18. Norm The Teeth From Brooklyn and his brooklyn accent and sleazeball personality
aren't going to deliver this time.

Remember, the only reason he is in office was because of the death of Paul Wellstone.

24. All of the Minnesota panic yesterday was from people who don't live here.
I didn't see one Minnesotan involved in the panic, because we know or own state and our own people. Here is my reply to one of the worried folks:

25. Hey! That really was a terrific post!
Won't it be fantastic to have Al Franken as a Senator? I was on the fence about him initially but I am really excited now. Should be fun to watch.

26. I'm excited too.
I'm looking forward to Al Franken, a very good friend of Paul and Sheila's, to reclaim Paul's seat. Boy, Coleman taking Wellstone's seat was like turning the knife in the horrendous wounds that we had after Paul's death. I know Paul would be proud to have Franken take his seat, and I am too. :hi:

27. My favorite Franken story is about him tackling a Wellstone heckler.
Was it somewhere down south of the Cities?

Franken's an old wrestler. LOL.

And yes, Wellstone would be so happy about AL.

Keep up the good fight!
