Will NYTimes Run A Front Page Story About Sarah & Todd's Membership In Alaskan Independenc Party?
Edited on Fri Oct-03-08 10:54 PM by cryingshame
Since they just so happened to run a retread story about Ayers.

Todd was definitely a member and Sarah definately attended meetings and was sympathetic.

It's a little disturbing that DU'ers dropped the subject of the Palin's affiliation in AIP.

The Times needs to cover it. Throw some resources out there and get more info.

Then there's that fucked up Pastor of Sarah's that likes to terrorize women and children by conducting witch hunts.

7. I just read the article...
It appears to innoculate Obama from the smears that everyone knows is coming...

<snip>

Mr. Obama’s friends said that history was utterly irrelevant to judging the candidate, because Mr. Ayers was never a significant influence on him. Even some conservatives who know Mr. Obama said that if he was drawn to Ayers-style radicalism, he hid it well.

“I saw no evidence of a radical streak, either overt or covert, when we were together at Harvard Law School,” said Bradford A. Berenson, who worked on the Harvard Law Review with Mr. Obama and who served as associate White House counsel under President Bush. Mr. Berenson, who is backing Mr. McCain, described his fellow student as “a pragmatic liberal” whose moderation frustrated others at the law review whose views were much farther to the left.

9. Sarah did more than attend meetings
Edited on Sat Oct-04-08 06:20 AM by clear eye
She was their 2008 Convention's opening speaker, "welcoming them" to something undefined. As the Republican Governor, that was about as irregular as anything political can get.

There was a video of her speech up on YouTube until recently, but it mysteriously was removed.

Edit to add: I've wondered since shortly after she was picked and this came out, why hasn't she been questioned by Dems about her patriotism, or lack of it. I mean what could be more unpatriotic than encouraging citizens of a state in their efforts to secede?

10. Could you provide a link to the Ayers article?
Edited on Sat Oct-04-08 07:18 AM by clear eye
Wondering what part of his background they decided to rehash. Was it something designed to alarm Jewish voters or just conservatives?

edit: Nevermind, I found it. A revolting read; exactly why I don't normally read the Times.

11. My letter to their national news editor
To the news editor:

Exactly what was the point of an article rehashing old info on William Ayers' background combined with a recounting of the handful of times he ran into Obama, under the deliberately misleading headline "Obama and ’60s Bomber: A Look Into Crossed Paths"? After all Obama didn't know the man until 26 years after Ayers had ceased that sort of activity, and claiming Obama crossed paths w/ a "'60s bomber" is surely intended to lead the reader to believe that Obama repeatedly interacted w/ the man when he was a "'60s bomber".

It isn't until 3/4 into the article, after recounting all the spurious Republican charges that Obama somehow approves Ayers' old crimes, and that he is hiding some deeper connection w/ Ayers, that you bothered to print the opinions of knowledgeable people outside the Obama campaign who say that there's been nothing untoward in their interactions, and that Obama has never indicated any sympathy for violence or radicalsim in general. And even there you interrupt the disclaimers with a paragraph about how violent the bombings by Ayers' old group were. Given that your reporter discovered the lack of importance of their casual interactions what exactly was the point in printing the article on them?

If you had any legitimate purpose for printing a repetition of false Republican charges that the tail end of your article indicates you knew were defamatory, I'd love to hear it. Unless I do, I'm going with the obvious conclusion that you are a yellow journalistic rag not worth further reading.
