Proposing solution to the economic mess: Sell Alaska

We know we'll need cash to pay the Wall Street firms for their bad bets, to avoid bank panics. $700B.

Where will it come from? I say sell Alaska back to Russia.

It will lower Defense costs. We won't have to worry about the Russians coming over the Bering Strait. Instead, we'll have Canada as a buffer. They can sound the warnings.

Yes, I know we'd be giving up that North Shore oil, but I'm pretty sure most of it goes on the world market anyway. Do you really think the oil companies are selling it to the USA any cheaper than they're selling it to the rest of the world?

Let Russia worry about the collapsing pipeline. It was built on permafrost and the permafrost is melting.

And let Russia worry about the teen pregnancy problem in Alaska, meth problems, etc.

Let Russia bear the cost of jailing Ted Stevens. Or just let him run the place for them.

1. That seems like the answer now...
But Alaska gives us oil and very little trouble otherwise. I propose we sell Florida. Perhaps Citibank will take that instead of Wachovia.

7. Don't even think about it!
If it gets sold to anybody, it should be Canada! Be nice, it may be over-run with Republicans but there are Democrats up there too. Won't it make you feel good to know they're finally getting proper universal healthcare? :D
