Caveat: I'm still confused about the bailout and have no opinion either way.

Pelosi admonished wall street today after the bill passed. She said the party is over and you can no longer turn to the taxpayers. (Heard this on the radio.) And she said this right after she gave them a check for 700 BILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS?? Sounds like party time to me.

5. Can I send her my credit card bill?
My wife and I are silly. We have a whole bunch of money in the bank and owe practically nothing. How stupid can we be?

lovely smile.

Well, Ms Pelosi evidently doesn't know that the market has never been free, even though these last few weeks have proved it in spades for those who are slow on the uptake. She should have learnt by now that the only thing her friends in Wall street and indeed Big Business - corporate America - were ever prepared to settle for, was being big fish in a small pond. Indeed, you have just fed the people to the "wolves" of Wall Street once again. And she has, it seems added insult to injury by ignoring the advice of George Soros that the money should be used to buy stock and not the toxic waste accumulated in the financial sewerage plant they are pleased to call "Wall Street"; and then heaped yet further insult on them by keeping the foxes back in charge of the hen-house, while enacting what will apparently be specious, unenforceable regulations to "control" those apex predators.

What I took from herr words was that her concern was to protect your country's business ethos of "robber-baron" capitalism, rather than the nation or its people - their prey. Indeed, at their continuing expense.

10. I wish people would be honest
"We all believe in the free market...."

We. All.

Many of us have been saying that this bailout and the arguments used by its defenders were just more of the same "free market" ideology. That was denied. Vehemently denied.

At least the Republicans don't deny it. But when our "friends" work from the inside to sabotage and undermine any opposition to the free market ideology, while denying that this is what they are doing, that is a much greater threat and much more difficult to fight against.

No support for this among Democrats could have ever been gained without lying - some very serious dishonesty underlies all of this. That and bullying.

If people want to promote the free market, they ought to be honest about that. They ought to not bully and scare people over to their side. They ought to not mislead and lie to us.

Bullying and lying and a belief in the free market - those are the problem, and can never be part of any solution.
