you know, i'm listening at work
and to hear these speeches you'd think hardly anyone was going to vote for this mess of a bill. at the end of their little spiel it seems they slip in the fact that they are voting for it. i am hearing very few exceptions. though i'm at work.

i also heard earlier that some committee or somesuch met last night and decided that no amendments to the bill would be considered. i think the motherfuckers want to get away - they've been at work a week longer than they meant to be as it is.

it's not going down this time, it's going to pass...we're going down. my opinion. i'll be happy if i'm wrong. i feel very very strongly that i am not.

1. I'm listening too.
It's very odd. It seems like nobody is for it but they're going to vote for it anyway. The whole thing is so strange. It's almost like they are succumbing to something beyond their control. WHO is holding WHAT over their heads?

Things that make me go, "Hmmm"....

2. They know the voters are pissed off, so they're paying lip service...

...saying they don't like it.

I'm not sure what to think about it. I think we're damned if we do, damned if we don't.

then paulson does not get his blank check and if we even have that kind of money to spend, we can spend it in more useful and equitable ways.

5. Credit would freeze up so bad..

...county and cities wouldn't be able to pay employees, businesses would lay off lots of people and go under, etc. Then where would the money go that you think should be put elsewhere?

11. I think that's why they are pumping money...

....in to free up the credit so that that can happen. Evidentally, no one keeps enough money on hand to take care of business so there's the need for the credit to flow.

I don't know, just repeating what I've heard. It's all so complicated I guess they could tell us about anything.

3. Noticing the same thing.
It's like you can hear in their voice that they honestly believe that this isn't the right thing to do, yet, at the very end of their speech, they simply state that they back it. More spooky than weird. Almost inhuman.

8. YES. Spooky. It's like our congress critters are possessed by
a force greater than their wills. Something stinks to high heaven about this.

9. Our elected representatives
are blatantly defying the will of the people - five weeks before a presidential election. It should be apparent to everyone paying attention that we are governed by oligarchs.

This bailout is an outrage. We need to stop making excuses for the politicians who are voting in favor of outright robbery of the taxpayers. If they gave a shit about the people, they would have included in the bailout help for people who are drowning out here. They are beneath contempt.

I read here that they've been threatened with martial law, so maybe that's the REAL reason. :puke:
