Ari Berman (Nation): Biden Wins, Hands Down
Biden Wins, Hands Down

Joe Biden was substantive, thoughtful and in command. Sarah Palin ignored virtually every question and stuck to generalities and platitudes.

Yes Palin didn't stumble as she did during the Katie Couric interviews. But she didn't impress, either. It was all boilerplate--like she was giving a scripted pep talk, not proving she could handle the toughest job in the world.

Biden kept his cool, even though he clearly had a much greater mastery of virtually every subject discussed. He kept the heat on John McCain--where it should be--and forcefully defended Obama when Palin made ludicrous claims about transferring the surge to Afghanistan or "waving the white flag of surrender" in Iraq.

I'm a little surprised to see the talking heads on TV talking about what a great job Palin did. Maybe they just want this race to be closer than it currently looks. But most swing voters, in an instant snapshot, thought otherwise...http://www.thenation.com/blogs/campaignmatters/367778

3. Evidently, some people saw some other debate that wasn't on my television.

Like Joe "the schmo" Scarborough...

Like 'garbage in, garbage out' it's low-information pundits = low-information voters.

MSM is like a distorting film on reality. It doesn't clarify, it distorts.

Occasionally I'm just brought up short by how ridiculous it all is.

Sen. Biden won the debate I saw. SP seemed like a joke spouting non-sense.

Oh well...

2. Well Biden looked and acted like a possible president.
Hillary looks like a possible president. Obama and (somewhat, before this recent sarcasm interview) McCain do too.

Yesterday, Palin might have shown she can go blah-blah for a sustained amount of 90-second periods, but she didn't come off as presidential.

Her "you betchas" really annoyed me. Four years of "you betchas" I could not take.

4. Joe won big
The only way Palin could be declared a winner was to hit one out of the park (which she didn't do.)

Even a tie would have been a win for Democrats.

This should be the last we here from Mooseline; she had her 15 minutes.

5. He was SENSATIONAL. He got Obama's message out in a HUGE way. That's what I wanted
to hear. Going in I thought "oshit, she's not going to let him talk". Boy was I wrong.
Job well done, Joe. The message was clear.

6. A one-word review of Palin's performance...
Vomit!

She just threw up whatever she'd crammed...
