Four shitheels trying to attack one shitheel. You couldn't even hear Harper's responses to questions because of the shitty moderator allowing him to be interrupted.
Face it, politics in Canada are in a sad state right now. That fucking Hack, Harper wouldn't stand a chance against a Trudeau, Chretien or even a Pearson.

Dang, yo.

1. I don't know what country you were
watching in. The debate I saw was informative, well-moderated, and interesting. Good zingers as well.

2. Dude, it was five fucking idiots arguing
How the fuck can you say that was well-moderated and informative? It was four morons competeing to be opposition leader and one asshole trying not to lose seats. If it was informative can you tell me one thing you learned? I heard barely ANYTHING about any party's vision of Canada cause they were busy attacking each other.

3. No, it was two PhDs
a Separatist, and a Green against tired old Harper.

If you didn't learn anything, it wasn't their fault or mine.

'Where's your platform? Under the sweater?'

4. Let's put it this way
I know all their platforms quite well and I didn't see any of what they stand for leak out. Yelling a response to someone and prefacing it with "My party wants to!" Is not informing the voter.

11. Well they all changed their image
tonight, right in front of your eyes.

Harper, far from being in command has no clue what to do about the economy. Dion speaks English very well, and is actually a very strong person. Layton is gunning for the top for a change, May, far from being out in left-field knows exactly what's going on, and Duceppe can run rings around Harper especially.

Steve Paikin is the best moderator in the country. He calls them on bullshit, poses difficult questions, and let's them fight it out to a reasonable point.

15. "Dion speaks English very well" - WHAT? Gilles speaks better english.
Saying he's a strong person only makes me see you're a blatant liberal faithful (I'm voting for them, but only cause of my riding). I remember when I bumped into Dion coming out of the elevator at work. He looked at the floor the whole time and stepped around me. Not a strong person if you ask me. Face it, this country has no good choice for leader.

His accent is almost impossible to understand. Paikin's a tool. He sucked ass. Mansbridge would do much better. May was decent, Layton was Layton - nothing new there.

19. What IS your problem?
Somebody on an elevator steps around you, and you condemn them for life?

Is noticing you a qualification to be PM?

Are you just running up your post count?

25. That was an anecdote... face it we're fucked for leaders
My problem is the complacency of the average Canadian to PRETEND we have leadership material in any of these parties right now... we don't and this is when we need it most.

21. I had a real tough time relating to Dion and the accent may of been a major problem...
In the states, no one talked like that, so its a huge change. I wasn't sure how that impacts Canadians.

But thats something else I want to leave behind...image over substance. I would much rather judge them on what they are bringing to the table.

I can't vote anyway so I guess it doesn't matter though.

28. On that I agree, image over substance is important
One of the reasons we need to acknowledge short comings and focus on the issues. It would have been nice to focus on the issues tonight, buit instead a bunch of people were yelling at each other.

They asked questions then asked another one before the person was finished answering the first. It's just a yelling contest.

People will do that when they are discussing and arguing over an issue.

Do you have a hearing problem?

And at least much of the subject matter was more intellectually honest. There is so much crap in the US political dialogue that dominates debates.

To me pleasant surprise, Canadian's answer questions in debates. :)

17. Yes, for Prime Minister.
We had 5 people debating about the state of the nation, only 2 of which have any real chance of doing so.

30. To be fair, doesn't only 1 person really have any chance of becoming PM?
And the rest are just trying to pick up seats and prevent a majority? I mean, historically speaking, does Dion have any chance with 2 weeks left (honest question).

33. No, 2 do.
Harper isn't going up in the polls, and Dion isn't going down.

After all this time they are all only 1 percentage point away from where they started out.

It may be a minority again, but it could go either way.

39. Ahh, I haven't seen that analysis anywhere.
Seems like most sources I read pretty much have it going to Harper, and the question being, by how much.

Itd be nice not to see him walk away as PM again, *if possible*. I pretty much just assumed he'll be there for a while.
