I owe Hillary Clinton an apology. I used to think that Sen Clinton
had a shrill voice. After listening to Sarah Palin almost screech her bumbling answers during interviews, I've started using closed captioning so I can still enjoy her bumbling without the screech.

I'm sorry Senator Clinton.

1. Well, according to Tweety and Olbershit
all women are screechers, have thick ankles, etc...If MSNBC says it, it must be gospel

4. You enjoy the tambor of Palin's voice?
I guess it takes all kinds.

I find it annoying.

Why can't she sound like Diana Riggs?

5. Just wondering if you're still spewing Larry Sinclair shit.
Most folks here like Olbermann and sometimes even Tweety and David Shuster.

10. Primary battle holdover
Tweety may have made cankle jokes, but I don't remember Olbermann making any.

3. Most men and some women find the female voice grating
but Palin has raised that a thousandfold. No information voters generally let verbiage wash over them without trying to understand it and give the speaker high marks for being bright and articulate for the worst gibberish. Palin's unfortunate tendency to screech costs her most of those points.

The focus group ratings tonight will be interesting and the pundit reactions should be nothing short of hilarious.

6. Hillary has a nice voice when she isn't hoarse from campaigning.
And who wouldn't be hoarse after all the rallies and speeches she had to give?

Palin, OTOH, has a grating voice to begin with. So yeah, I join in your apology to Hillary about her voice. I also owe her an apology because I never thought she would be this great campaigning for Obama. I knew she would do it but I never expected to really feel like her heart is in it. She proved me wrong and I am so happy to have BEEN wrong.

9. I've never thought there was anything wrong with Hhillary's voice.
And she has gotten (during the primaries) much more comfortable as a public speaker.

Palin? That one is like nails on a chalkboard.

11. She did get better and better on the trail.
Remember that one time when they were all sick? All the candidates had gotten colds and scratchy throats. It hurt me to listen to Hillary then, not because I didn't like her but because you could just tell that her throat was killing her. Made me wish somebody would bring out some tea with honey in it just to soothe her throat a bit. It would have soothed me, anyway, to see somebody taking care of her. :)

Must be the mom in me or something. Hard habit to get out of when you're used to tucking people in and dosing them up.

12. I just told my husband yesterday
that her voice is so horrible that even if she was saying the nicest thing in the world, it would sound shrill. He agreed and also added that she just sounds like a bitch. We always have to mute the television when she speaks.

14. I'll admit that I've got a bit of Southern drawl, but GEEEEZ!
Palin's accent and whiny-ass, nasal delivery just make me cringe. And that's without even considering the words themselves that she attempts to utter ...

13. I never hated Hillary's voice
I've found her Chicago accent a little grating at times, but the timbre of her voice is fine to me. And as others have said, she got better as a public speaker, modulating her volume and diction and pitch as the campaign wore on.

Sarah, OTOH, does sound shrill. I find it odd because beauty pageant contests are almost always coached in public speaking. Did she skip that part?

15. I thought Hillary's voice sounded a lot better ...
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 02:29 PM by MgtPA
...towards the end of the campaign. I'd always thought she should bring it down a register and by Super Tuesday, it seemed to me that she had. By comparison, Palin's very first speech in Dayton felt like a needle in my ear; I turned it off halfway through, figuring I could read it online later. Palin's voice is like biting on tinfoil!

Talk about nails on a chalkboard.
