Some new movie is apparently targeting Michael Moore.
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 02:19 AM by Hardrada
I saw a snippet of it on some cable channel and there is a Moore type character suffering pratfalls and beatings. Did anyone else catch that? I think it is some RW lame attempt a humor but seemed not very funny to me.

1. From the director of the Airplane movies..
and it looks pretty unfunny from the commercials.

But, it's a free world. MM said he was fine with it, didn't care.

4. An American Carol...
Bill O'Reilly is in it... and they conservatives try to use JFK to confront the Moore-esque character on his misguided views or some shit. Sounds like a bunch of elephant dung.

5. Yes, it's by David Zucker.
Once longtime liberal Democrat, he saw one too many of his movies and became a complete moron.

One of the Zucker brothers (of "Airplane" and "Naked Gun" fame) became a repuke, and made this weak movie.

Edit to add: They beat me to it.

9. Chevy Chase was the last person to get away with that sort of humor.
Though John Candy did careen around the SNL set at times.

10. They had this great idea: a comedy to lampoon LIBERALS right before the election.
It's supposed to impact the election. Yeah, good luck with that McCain demo of 70-90 year old white people who are scared of being mugged showing up at the movie houses.

Not faking fun of government official and policies. No just satire a director. Besides I saw a promo, Michael Moore IS American. He DOESN'T WORK FOR THE TALIBAN.

13. Rightwing "humor" doesn't work.
Their whole deal is authoritarian and you can't force people to laugh. This film will go to DVD in five minutes and for five minutes.

Every right winger in Hollywood it looks like, except Tom Selleck who apparently didn't need the money and Chuck Heston who of course is still dead.

26. "from the way he talked"
Well, according to his IMDb page, he's had plenty of practice speaking someone else's words. He is either a better actor than we realize or he is a tool for the GOP. Either way, his ability to read words written by someone else will serve him well.

34. here is a bit more info:
"He also played the role of the limo driver namely Felix in “That's So Raven” which was broadcasted on Disney. He also appeared in Two Guys Drinking at a Bar, a web series which was released in the year 2007. Kevin Farley was also seen attending the 2008 Republican National Convention. He pointed out his political outlook to be conservative while giving an interview to 97.1 FM. Kevin Farley
http://www.encyclocentral.com/27517-Kevin_Farley_Actor_Movie_An_American_Carol_Michael_Malone_Role_Appeared_On_The_View_To_Promote.html

"ST. PAUL, Minn.--There aren't many conservatives in Hollywood, but we talked to a few today at the Republican convention.

"First up, actor Kevin Farley of the new David Zucker satire "An American Carol." Farley plays a Michael Moore-like anti-American documentarian set out to abolish the Fourth of July until he's visited by three spirits who convince him otherwise.

"Farley tells NewsBusters editors Noel Sheppard and Matthew Sheffield about how he got involved in the project and his philosophy on the intersection of filmmaking and politics: "To me it's always about the project .... To me I like to be about the material first.... When we're on the set, work is work, we're not here to do anything else."

http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb-staff/2008/09/01/newsbusters-interview-kevin-farley-american-carol

so i guess that makes three of them: ron silver, kelsey grammer, and farley. (piss on them)

31. Yes, and money has already been wasted making it!
Incidentally, I look at bins of 3 buck CD's in various stores and am amazed at the huge amount of the stupid worthless movies that the US film industry has been churning out and so many are fairly recent flicks too. Thank God for Roger Ebert!

33. One reason is that they have not developed an adequate
satirical reflex. Another is that they lack the sense of empathy which is so essential in comedy. I.e., that could happen to me and I can laugh because I can also laugh at myself in such a circumstance.
