About all the DEBATE over the bailout, something everyone should know.

All I have to say is that I love the fact DU has such a disagreement on this issue-- this marketplace of ideas has informed me more than anything else in the last week. So whether you are against or for the bailout, I just wanted to say thanks for all the cogent arguments that help everyone!

1. It's not very often that this place splits right down the middle.

Outside of primary politics that is.

2. Agreed. I'm generally a contrarian, but the debate here has helped form my opinion.

The "crisis" is real, but the proposed cure was worse than the illness, IMO.

We DO need a fix, but it must make sense.

3. Wow, someone actually welcoming debate?

Don't you want to personally demean the ones that disagree with you? If you're for the bailout you're a sucker that wants to sell out their children's futures, if you're against it you're a cold-hearted bastard that wants people to lose their jobs and stand in soup lines. I was told those were the only choices.:shrug:

4. I just hope it opens some eyes

and people realize how totally screwed up the system becomes when Cons have complete control.

The beauty of the Constitution and democracy is that we can navigate a path between the extremes. But it does require an informed populace and an independent press.
