2. Fascinating, the vote was pretty evenly divided, as these things go
but the map put it into clearer perspective: Reps from urban districts tended to vote Aye (glaring exception: LA) while Reps from rural districts tended to vote No (glaring exceptions AR, central AL and SE OK).

because they knew damned full well the folks back home would toss them out on their asses in November if they bailed out bankers and pointy headed city slickers.

Yes, yours is a great talking point. It's just not what happened when you look closely at the map.

8. It is what happened. The GOP promised 75-78 votes and didn't deliver.

that's OK by me because I have such mixed feelings about it that I haven't made up my mind on it.
