Thank you House Republicans
as a loyal DUer, I want to thank the House Republicans for stopping this bad bill.
"Something must be done" is not an excuse for "Anything must be done."

27. Actually the more radical republicans want this deal destroyed
Newt Gingrich is for the bad deal, but Bill O'reilly understands howawful it is, and so I guess for once you have Kucinich, and Bernie Sanders and O'REILLY all in the same bed!!

5. Thank you for the "nay" votes. Now we can start negotiating for a package
that will help the entire country and not just the top 1%. Let's start with capping executive pay (not just their golden parachutes - for gods sake when do any of us get those?), then we'll move on to the tax rates.

Here we have House Republicans saving the day!!

What next?

Does anyone have an explanation for Barney Frank supporting this thing?

(Other than he is owned by the fat cat bankers)

7. Good deal
There are better plans to help the economy, and I don't believe this bill was anything but one final theft by Bush's base from the rest of us.

10. Whatever their reasons for rejecting it, I also want to thank them. And the Dems who would
not cave to Nancy's pressure tactics.

Now, just maybe, a reasoned piece of legislation can be discussed in depth and a real solution put forth by those who "lead" us.

There never was an urgency that required this hasty "fix" be forced on us.

Congress is supposed to be a deliberative body.

Deliberate, god dammit.

11. Maybe--looks to me like the Pukkkes just took over the Congress again
as a ruling minority.

Now we'll be forced to swallow whatever plan they come up with--which will stink for ordinary taxpayers, you can be sure.

12. This is a game of Chicken
They'll yell uncle. The markets cannot stand this. This will trickle down to the average American. Barney Frank is right.

As that much hated Pat Buchanan said this morning:
"You have to feed the pigs, so the sheep can eat."

Unfortunately.

24. Lol! Agreed, tri. Repub's last throes vote. Folks, listen to the RW pundits. They're trying to link
the dems with Paulson, Bush, et al.

Don't for a second believe they did this for you.

They are gonna lose big in Nov, & this is their last chance to project their f*ckups on the dems.

15. K&R Thanks to both the Dems and Reps who voted no!
We've seen the real divide in America show itself today.

Populists vs Corporatists and Plutocrats (and those gullible enough to join them).

Both branches of the Corporate War Party lost today. The people won.

This victory will be short lived, we can be sure. The House Republicans are not really on our side. They just aren't on Wall Street's side either.

I have never seen so much uninformed establishment fear-mongering on DU. Never ever. And that's saying a lot.

This bill is politically toxic. If Democrats pass it, they honestly deserve to lose the house.

They wanted to give the Dems a few trinkets in exchange for a blank check. Not just No... Hell NO! Throw the Dems a few scrawny table scraps and they'll behave like good little puppies. They did this on the Prescription Drug Bill and on the Iraq War Vote. How long ago was that and people have already forgotten? Bush and his buddies would have been back for more money within weeks. They won't stop until they get every last penny. As it stands now... Bush and Karl Rove are busy figuring out their next assault on sanity and reason.....

25. It's really funny, that around here, people actually believe anything Bush says.
He's lied to you about everything since the day he took office. Even before that. And you believe him when he says the sky is falling.

Just as before, when all the experts said he was full of shit about invading Iraq. Now he says the economy will collapse if we don't bail out billionaires. And almost every noted economist in the country says he's full of shit, and people still believe him.

The DOW was off 600pts earlier. Two weeks ago it was at a lower level than it is now after the drop.

We can agree that there is a major problem. But, his solution was even worse. Never jump when he squawks about imminent danger. We've heard all that too many times before.

Let cooler heads prevail.

BOO!
