The sense of entitlement by some here is very disturbing
Those who wish that this "bailout" will prop up the status quo and afford them the continued lifestyle to which they are accustomed. Why are Americans better than anybody else on the planet? Every American must understand that our lifestyle is only possible through exploited labor in less developed nations.

2. This is the wrong bailout.
A bailout was/is needed though. If the markets were allowed to collapse outright, it would be harder for us and the people of every country, especially the developing world.

3. I wish all of you could experience the poverty
of your desires, I really do. I am among the most broke of anybody here. It's why I don't want to get any broker. This is a global problem. There won't be any money to help the poorest in the world if we don't try to stop this collapse.

11. What do you mean by...
"Experience the poverty of your desires?"

I can 100% guarantee you with absolute confidence that I am a whole lot poorer than you. Which is why I'd like to hear this comment explained.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Even if you're homeless, it'll get worse if the banks go under.

15. I'm not begging for a collapse
And I haven't seen many other people doing so, either.

The way I read it, this thread is not about "begging for a collpase" at all. It's about perspective.

And the bailout bill is a rip-off. It won't prevent any potential collapse and it will scam taxpayers out of a fortune.

I saw a great speech by Kucinich based on this theme about this bailout on cspanjunkie.org. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet. :hi:

25. Just keep it in perspective

Those cheering for a collapse from the safety of the keyboard, have as much affect on this situation as though who cheer on their favorite sports team from the safety of their living room with the big screen.

I get annoyed at them to, but sometimes I have to remind myself of futility of simple wishes.

But it would be nice to distribute wealth, instead of just shrinking it.

8. The idea that what happens in America won't affect the rest of the world...
is also disturbing.

If you think that a collapse of the American economy will stop exploitation of those in developing countries, you are quite quite wrong IMO. In fact, it will probably increase it, because people going through hard times will be more likely to use the quickest and cheapest option, even if this means profiting from cheap overseas labour. And whatever aid the world's poorest get will be cut in a world recession, as governments cut foreign aid and individuals give less money to charities.

You see anything in black on that list? Some of those are very big changes percentage wise.

This is scary crap. No, I don't want to lose my meager 401k, and no I don't want my folks pension checks to bounce, and no I don't want kids in Africa to starve.

It frankly think it will work out...Wall Street may just have to "sweeten the deal" for the taxpaers, as it were..and they will, if they think they'll get NOTHING otherwise.

It sounds like you've experienced a lot of losses. I've been there (and back) believe me.. Why don't you pm me and we can talk?

13. Do you think any of these underdeveloped nations will see improvements
if we collapse to their level? Nations who make shoes for slave wages will not be better off if they lose even those wages.

We need to do more about the problem, but dying isn't going to help.

16. True, that.
I also find almost amusing, in a very sad way, that while we have tolerated "our leader's" torpor in regards to tens of millions of other people's problems for the last three decades or more, you know all those factory workers that have still not come close to being made whole, the millions of women that had their assistance taken away with no preparation to become self-supporting, the former union members, the IT workers, the minorities, the SBOs and their employees that were crushed to make way for consolidations, and on and on and on...

but now that there is a possibility that they are going to be personally effected, we simply must do something, anything, RIGHT NOW!

It's my ox now, so this is unacceptable.

(BTW, they tried this in the Great Depression, before it had a name, and it didn't work then either.)

capitalism works ONLY when a resource can be exploited.

labor is the last resource that capitalists can abuse. They are doing it here just as much as in less developed nations.

28. The whole point of this bail out was to devalue the dollar. Then Paulson has 700 billion to spread
around to his buddies to buy up whatever assets they want at fire sale prices with free money. Then when the economy picks up huge profits are made and new corporate empires built and reinfocred.

31. I think your statement is a little harsh..
..but I know what you mean. Most people have no idea how the U.S. economy has been propped up by debt and the exploitation of others. What pains me is how those who have profited so much from our corrupt system will not be the ones with hell to pay when the house of cards comes crashing down.
