worried about the most vulnerable..

elderly people with dire health concerns, and extremly low income.
what will happen to them if bush crashes the system?

its like he has a knife at thier throats and is demanding a trillion or they die, first.

no one wants to define what a "depression" really means,
how many would perish? how far will it go (ww3?) can it even be stopped?

these questions cause me to support the dems in supporting bailout.
i hope they are telling the truth.. and events indicate (to me) that they are.

1. This bail out will rape the taxpayers and provide ZERO funds for social programs.
Don't be fooled, they are transferring more wealth from the middle class to the WEALTHY. :grr:

2. it isn't the elderly who are most at risk, it's the middle aged and younger most harmed i think

we already have a social safety net for the elderly and in this climate of such "great" returns on investment, the dream of privatzing social security and medicare is going to be DOA -- so the vulnerable old will keep what they have, there will be no ability to change their entitlements

it's the middle-aged person who can't buy health insurance NOW and who if she loses her job will never be hired for another because her employer doesn't want to buy health insurance for a middle aged person either -- that's the person who will be dumped off the side of the cliff -- if your home is not paid off and you lose your job and/or become sick or injured, and you can't get insurance to pay your health care and you can't borrow to at least keep the game going until you do find another job then there are no social programs now to help you and since the country is broke there won't be any new ones proposed

i know someone who just killed himself for economic reasons, who could have had many more productive years, but there is no hope in this economy now and no safety net for anyone who is not a child or already past retirement age

scary times, you just can't get sick, you just can't get injured, you just can't work for a company that fails or gets downsized and then you get laid off...or you're screwed

i see this crisis as being really decimating to a class of people that would normally be among our most productive

the young are also screwed -- if good jobs fresh out of college are not there when they graduate, they may NEVER get a decent job in their field, yet they still have to pay back huge college loans, if the older people are afraid to take chances and take new positions or start businesses, then even the younger people w. jobs can't advance because there are no opportunities there -- also no young person (except the spoiled rich kid) can just save up money and buy a house for cash so unless there is credit out there, the younger person/younger family won't be able to buy homes

i don't see this impacting the "most" vulnerable so much as i see it creating a new class of poor and vulnerable that normally would be creating and producing, truly in my opinion the GOP thieves have cut the heart out of the nation by a deliberate attack on the middle class and the young -- reagan's program to remove grants and replace them with loans have really crippled the younger generations because if you want to be educated the price you pay is to be hobbled for years or decades with debt -- so people have been in a hole from the beginning and now they can't rely on getting a good job or good credit after making this sacrifice?
