Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 08:37 AM by Phred42
I'm watching the live voting on CSPAN and it shows that ONLY Democrats are voting FOR this abortion.

The Democrats just committed Suicide - dumb bastards

The Republicans are getting off Scott Free.

edited to change the title to "Procedural vote" from bailout.

1. Instead of DUMB I'm thinking "willfully ignorant" and taking orders from Corporations.
Damn them! Each Democratic representative who votes for this should be unseated in their very next Democratic Primary. I'm so mad I could spit! :grr:

I say, "No, I don't buy it!" The democrats who vote for this KNOW that they are stealing from working Americans but they think that we are DUMB. Let's prove them wrong by voting the BUMS OUT in their very next democratic primary? No slack!

17. Chance for what? Rob the American people
It is becoming more obvious by the day all they really care about is themselves. They certainly doi not represent their constituents when those constituents have been telling them in no uncertain terms don't do it but do they listen? It is obvious Democrats are not what will save this country. They are almost as much of the problem as Republicans.

20. I Agree.
I voted against Blue Dog incumbent Melissa Bean in this last Primary.

The Democrats have to purge themselves of all Blue Dogs and DLC - ASAP.

in RED at the bottom of the charts.

Senate: http://tinyurl.com/4jsos2

House: http://tinyurl.com/3roml8

These are the most progressive Dems. You'll notice that Obama is not in Red.

8. No, just use Occam's Razor.
They aren't willfully ignorant. They understand fully and they prefer to make love to the piles of cash corporations are promising than to work for us and do what's right. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss (corrupt GOPers in bed with corporate interests). Anyone defending Pelosi and Frank and Dodd and the rest better not ever say a bad word about the old regime that ruled Congress after 1994. They are all the same.

16. Hang In There...
The House speaks in its own language...even after years of watching this, I still don't understand all the games they play.

The sell-out bill should come up shortly...and expect some fireworks. The final vote will be around 2pm Eastern.

Cheers...

5. Why aren't they listening to the people?
Although I'm suspicious as to why the Reps are against it -- maybe it doesn't pad their pockets enough?

It's a fucking mess.

10. This thing is a death sentance. IT's Toxic.
I think if the Republicans were still in charge they would HAVE to vote for it too and the Dems would be saying no.
It's a miserably fucking game show.

Like the Washington Generals vs the Harlem Globe Trotters - the Dems are here to take the fall.

14. No, the GOP is opposed to this for the reasons we are.
I heard a GOP congressman from NJ talking about this on TV and I was agreeing with everything he said as far as why this bill is a pile of shit. The GOP are going populist on this. This isn't a Dem-GOP issue. It's a filthy rich vs. middle class issue. Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and Dodd are for the filthy rich. That's just the truth.

Gains tax.

They are not populists.

I respect that. That's how I feel. There should be no deus ex machina from the government to make everything right for them.

35. Those Republicans you are speaking of are the ones that created this mess.
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 10:25 AM by SemiCharmedQuark
They created it with the mantra "No regulation" "No regulation" "No regulation". Now it's all fallen down and their solution is "No regulation" AND "Let's cut a tax that affects the rich much more than it does the poor".

They don't care about people. They only care about themselves. If the worst were to happen, they would still be fine. They are now just trying to scrape out the last big they can by dodging taxes.

33. I don't agree with your assessment of Pelosi, et al -- in this instance, anyway.
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 08:55 AM by gateley
Pelosi and Reid are iffy in my book, but I trust Frank and Dodd.

If your view is accurate, why aren't the Repubs supporting this? They, more than anyone, are for the filthy rich. Do you think they are now enlightened and their motives are altruistic?

edit - typo

22. so what is going on with the vote.
is this the final outcome, or are they thrashing this still. I just want to see both parties going off the cliff together if they vote for this, and don't leave it in the Dems lap. Didn't they make changes to whole thing, this is so messed up.
