So if credit seizes, fleet fueling grinds to a halt and lines of credit used for restocking freeze, what should we do? I'm guessing shops will be bare in days.
I've laid in about a month's food, just in case. Mostly pantry staples I'll use anyhow. I have no idea how to store fuel. I'm guessing I need a special container to do it. I'm morally opposed to arming myself for the Mad Max scenario. I'll ride this out WITH my neighbors instead of against them. Any other suggestions? I should get my meds refilled.
After driving across the south this last week, I have zero faith in capitalism to cope once disruption starts.
I'm hoping Congress will act at that point to establish some sort of liquidity to get essential services back up and running, but that will be measured in weeks at least. Fema is screwed. I suppose the regional Red Cross and food pantries will last a while, but I'm guessing days, not weeks.
Sorry to be so gloomy, but it is time to give this a thought or two. I mean, I don't get any hope from a Bush plan to "fix" the problem. From what I have seen, it addresses none of the causes, even with CEO pay caps and taxpayer equity. The system is still opaque, byzantine and untrustworthy over the long haul.
God help us if it hits in winter.
