Boehner Aide: GOP Revolted becuz Dems Denied McCain an Opportunity to Participate in Agreement
tucked away in this NYT article:

Talks Implode During a Day of Chaos; Fate of Bailout Plan Remains Unresolved

-snip

But a top aide to Mr. Boehner said it was Democrats who had done the political posturing. The aide, Kevin Smith, said Republicans revolted, in part, because they were chafing at what they saw as an attempt by Democrats to jam through an agreement on the bailout early Thursday and deny Mr. McCain an opportunity to participate in the agreement.

SO WHOSE PLAYING POLITICS ON THIS VERY SERIOUS MATTER?

3. John McCain hasn't even bothered to VOTE in the Senate since April.
Why the hell should they wait for him? Senate activities are quite obviously NOT A PRIORITY with John McCain. If they were, he'd show up to VOTE!

9. Notice how this info is tucked away in the article. I sent it to Boehner's hometown
reporter covering the story. Nothing like a good ole freudian slip now and then.

12. Makes me wonder just how real this crisis is.
Sure there are economic problems but the mushroom cloud II scenario looks more and more like a scam.

11. This was the agreement announcement before Mccain even arrived.
That upset their plan to have McCain ride in first, then have an agreement which they'd try to give him credir for. So far so good, in avoiding the traps set by the Repubs. As long as there is no agreement prior to the debate tonight, there will be further negative impact for McCain. He won't be able to boast how he brought everyone together. In fact, the opposire happened. He detailed the entire process.

The markets survived just fine today. I see a possible attempt for the Repubs to try to pin the $700B bailout on the Democrats but I don't think that's going to happen. It's the Wall Street/Main Street mantra I hear frequently from Repubs now, but Obama has been saying that all week and earlier.

25. My favorite guys in the board meetings
They show up late, haven't read the reports, don't have any information, then after 15 seconds or so, offer three or four half-assed solutions that the group has already rejected. Yes indeedy, I really look forward to those folks showing up at 7:20 for a 7 o'clock meeting. Maybe we should install locks on the doors?

23. So who is playing politics here? the people who tried to come up with
an agreement or the people who would only accept an agreement if it came from their candidate?

I don't believe any of it. McCain didn't say a word during that meeting because he doesn't understand economics and he had nothing to say.
