1. Wachovia's now too big to NOT fail.
Steele is a not-quite-high-functioning moron.

7. You might be on to something
They are also a huge "junk" credit-card issuer - you know, the AWESOME LOW RATE OF 25%!! type cards.

They also provide credit services for many retailers.

17. They're affiliated with those HFC loan shark scumbags.
I have a couple low-interest CCs backed by HSBC.

HFC dirtbags used to send me unsolicited high interest $5,000.00 cash advance checks.

I read this con shit, and in five years, the total you would end up paying back was $10,000.00! The BS check came with a handy payment schedule.

You could pay it off early, but the full amount was still due regardless.

8. I have a grudge match going with Wachovia.
They lost the records where I PAID BACK my student loans and have kept me in court for five years now where I keep showing up with my records and they keep saying, oops!

They deserve to fail.

9. Sounds to me like you've got a good harrassment lawsuit.
I'd contact a good PI law firm and see if they want to take it for a piece of the action.

I'm heartily in favor of widespread "Erin Brockovich" activism.

10. I'm pretty sure if they don't have the records or prove that you didn't
and it went on your credit report you can counter sue them for up to 10,000 if I'm not mistaken.

My wife may get to sue Fifth Third for this very type of thing

There is a banking act that covers this

14. It's insane. And they have more resources to devote to this
than I ever will. So, even when/if I win, I've lost a lot of time to this cr@P!

By the time I pay the lawyer out of the settlement, no way will it cover my other expenses and time. Whatever. At least they couldn't take away my degree or education in the process.

16. I'm sorry,,,sounds like they are putting you through the ringer...
all I know is our lawyer told us he was sending them a letter tell them to prove the records and if they couldn't we would sue them. Wouldn't pay him anything until we collect. Anywho I don't have any more info now on it. I'll try to look into it further and catch up with you later.

21. Oooh! I had them for student loan servicing too.
They were terrible on a good day. They once sent me threatening letters for a year over an incorrectly charged late fee of 50 cents. When I received the first one I replied in writing and got a hand written note saying it would corrected -- the note didn't say WHEN, LOL.

After they bought World Bank I told the SO that there was no way that I would put any money in their hands.

24. If they go down, will this STOP?
The contractors that processed my payments to them via Cal were in Walnut Creek or something and they're not even THERE any more. I thank Something that I never throw that stuff away or I'd be in worse trouble.

You'd think they'd go after people who DIDN'T pay their bill and who HAVE money to throw at the 'frig.

lol

:hi:
