So Bush Declares Martial Law And Proclaims The Bailout By Fiat
Too Farfetched?

He has the powers to do so. He gave them to himself over the last eight years

So he sees lack of bailout as a threat to the republic and takes charge to establish order

Could very well happen with a moran who is used to always getting his way

1. I'm not sure Fiat is doing all that well. Maybe Mercedes-Benz
could help us out.

3. I'll bet he's considered it
In fact, I was thinking he might use last night's "speech" to hint around at it. But if he's thought it through at all, he would have concluded that it was a badly losing hand. I think Bush is just trying to play out the string. All these bank failures weren't supposed to happen until next year or at least after the election; they just happened two months too soon. He's fucked nine ways from Sunday right now.

5. He's under a lot of pressure by the oligarchs who own him to make this happen
The populism in play right now is just so inconvenient

The only reason the repukes walked out tonight is due to the huge volumne of email
and such opposed to the bailout. Both parties are posturing because of popular opinion

Those have-Mores are pretty crazy and used to having their own way

The possibility is much more than zero

4. I really believe he wants nothing more now than to hand this off to Obama
and slink away. I saw a bewildered, whipped man on my tv the other night, who plainly did not want to be there anymore. Bombin' shit in The Iraq is fun. Talkin to viziers and sultans and heresiarchs in The Iraq to get em to stop killin each other an let us have the oil is not NEAR as much fun. Savin the ecom the con the econmoney ain't no fun at all.

6. He said last night that "there would be dire consequences" if it didn't pass
Can't think of anything more dire that didn't bankrupt his cronies

8. Teh Legacy is circling teh drain.
Nobody owns this mess - or ever could - more than the Republicans and it's comical how they're trying to distance themselves from the Worst pResident Ever.

They're not going to give him squat.
