1. Absolutely no problems here
everything went pretty smoothly. You can always uninstall it later if something happens.

6. I have XP SP3 on my old machine.
It runs just fine.

If you want real headaches, try Vista without SP1.

8. I bought the disks for XP Pro so when I get a new computer,
I won't have to deal with Vista. That is, until MS stops servicing it.

13. Vista is fine with SP1.
Without SP1 I had many blue-screens. A lot of it had to do with bad drivers, but I got A LOT of IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL BSOD's before I upgraded to SP1.

Only thing is Vista requires some considerable horsepower to run well. You really need at least an AMD or Intel dual core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a DirectX 10 compatible graphics card.

9. SP3 worked fine.
I loaded it rather than Vista. Vista's footprint is too large but XP allows 3gb working memory which is enough.

I got over a year on my last install.

10. I just finally 'excepted' the update last week. It worked fine however I manually created a 'Restor
'Restore Point' before allowing the update just in case.
