Richard Gere plugged Obama again this morning--this time on the CBS Morning Show.
I posted about Gere doing that yesterday and got half a dozen replies. A couple of hours later I made what I believed was a thoughtful post about our situation in this country and the preamble to the Declaration of Independence and it got no replies at all. I'm not sure what that means.

1. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
Take into account what time of day it was, who else was posting, what else was being talked about, who was logged into DU at the time... It just happens. In other words, it's not you.

2. The first seven words....
....in the title got me a little more excited than they should have.

3. Hey, don't take it personally.
information flows fast here on DU and we don't always see every post when it's made.
i know i fail to read the majority of posts here because i just don't have the time to keep up.

anyway, thanks for sharing the info about richard gere's support of Obama. :)

4. Yeah. It's a pretty common experience for me.
Put some time into thinking something through, wrestle with it, turn it into a reasonably well-organized mini-essay, post it, and watch it drop out of sight. Maybe you even respond to yourself, to run it up the flagpole again. Again nobody salutes. Fuck it. Post it on Kos, and maybe it'll take off.

5. Timing is everything on DU. The same post could be kicked for the evening and
you'd get 100 replies and 20 recs. Please don't take it personally.

6. Probably means people think he's nice on the eyes (and this is coming from a 'straight' guy)
He's a star and a gentleman.

7. Part A:
Personally, I'm tired of hearing what celebrities think about ANYTHING.

Even when I like the celebrity and agree with what they're saying, there's too much of it.

Part B:

Thoughtful posts often sink on DU. Many people are too occupied finding funny things to say about Sarah Palin.

8. I've had a lot of what I believed were thoughtful OPs that went nowhere
and sparked little or no discussion no matter what time of the day they were posted. Ironically, once I simply posted what was on 60 Minutes and it got 17 Recs in about 15 minutes--more than I have ever gotten for anything else.

It was great to see Richard Gere do his interview and then give an unashamed and not coy shout out of his support of Obama at the end.
