6. Does she think it's part
of the pattern of economic "shock" & forced free-market policies? I ask because it seems to fit the pattern, but if anything the plan seems ANTI-free market & anti-privatization. Letting the gov. buy up these banks & assets would go against everything the neoliberal crowd believes in, doesn't it?

19. Missed you, Swamp Rat.
Bet you are sick of those hurricanes!!

Hubby and I sympathize. We went through 3 in 6 weeks in 2004....but no flooding..lucky there.

Hope all goes well. It really wears out the emotions.

17. Why isn't ChimpCo holding a gun to the head of the private sector instead of the U.S. taxpayer?
ChimpCo is scaring the American public into rushing into this. They are suggesting that our entire economy will fall if this bailout isn't done and done without hesitation. But it's not just the American people who will suffer if the economy implodes. Every major financial institution and business will fall as well. Why doesn't Bush first scare the crap out of BoA, Wells Fargo, CitiCorp and the other more healthy institutions? Why doesn't he tell them THEY will collapse if they don't pitch in? They stand as much to lose if economic armagedden arrives as the U.S. taxpayer. Why doesn't Bush first use pressure to get the private sector to buy up the bad assets? All of the financial institutions, whether they get bailout benefits or not will benefit from a bailout. All of them will suffer, whether they're doing well or not, if things turn to crap.
