Wow. America wakes up. CNN's poll on the funky federal bailout
http://www.cnn.com/?refresh=1

66% of Americans are AGAINST the idea.

And Paulson thought he could put one over on us.

1. You really think they care that 66% are opposed?
That's not even as high as Chimpy's disapproval rating.

5. Exactly. That's why they've rigged the system so that our votes don't count.

I noticed that during the Phony Clinton Impeachment.

The logic is simple, and as relentlessly relevant as a glacier.

How is it that the Democrats shied away from impeaching Raygun, for actual crimes and treasons, because he was too popular...

(knowing what we know now...was he ever quite as legendarily popular, or were we "led" to it usin the same advertising/PR techniques that Coca Cola used to hype their polar bears into being "a longstanding Christmas Tradition" from the very first day they werre ever aired on TV)

...and now the Bushies are impeaching Clinton, over nonsense that basically is't even REAL, when EVEN MORE PEOPLE ARE AGAINST IT?

The conclusion is obvious and horrifying, and was already becoming clear even then to those who knew what they were looking at...looking for. The Bushies do not need voters to "win", there fore they can easaily ignore polls.

Which wouldn't have included me at the time. In 1987, I had no idea of the scope ofr the long-term evil we faced. No idea at all. Not many did. Hindsight is 20/20...that's for fucking sure!

Hell, not many do today, even this late and obviously in the Bushies' Game of "Turn America into An Inverted Totalitarianism".

6. Fewer than that approve of our current congress, but most will
be retained in November. There is a lot of nutsery (this won't pass spell check) out there.

8. 34 is the exact range of the PNAC faithful. When it comes to the Senate vote, 100% of
Republican Senators will vote for it PLUS 34% OF DEMOCRATIC SENATORS. I hope not.

7. Doesn't matter... it is going to happen anyway

The public is against it.... but really, that's because they don't understand it.

It has to be done. It is HORRIBLE that it has to be done... and the blame rests almost solely on the Republican party.

But it has to be done.

15. In 1980 the government bailed out the Chrysler Corporation....
1.5 billion dollars - big money back then. Strict conditions set by Congress. Payback - with interest.

That is what Chrysler did. And the government got 350 million in interest payments from Chrysler.

http://uspolitics.about.com/od/economy/a/chryslerBailout.htm

On 7 January 1980, Carter signed the legislation (Public Law 86-185):

This is legislation which ... shows in vivid terms that when our Nation does have a genuine pressing economic problem, that my own administration and the Congress can act expeditiously...

The loan guarantees will not be made by the Federal Government unless the other contributions or concessions are given to Chrysler by its own owners, stockholders, administrators, employees, dealers, suppliers, foreign and domestic financial institutions, and by State and local governments. It's got to be a package deal, and everyone understands this. And because they have already probed for the best possible interrelationship to form a team to protect Chrysler's viability, I believe there's a good chance that this package will be put together.

Under the leadership of Lee Iacocca, Chrysler doubled its corporate average miles-per-gallon (CAFE). In 1978, Chrysler introduced the first domestically produced front-wheel drive small cars: the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon.

In 1983, Chrysler paid off the loans that had been guaranteed by US taxpayers. The Treasury was also $350 million richer.

16. Think Patriot Act. Think Iraq War Resolution. THIS is another Bush Boondoggle!
How many times will our congressional leaders be suckered by THE SKY IS FALLING!?

If this thing can be slowed down, it can be reconfigured and made something comprehensive and useful. Otherwise, it's just a chance for the Bush administration to hobble OUR future with debt for THEIR backers.
