Fox demands McCain camp remove Garrett from ad

Fox News sent a cease-and-desist letter to the McCain campaign today over a new ad that includes the voice of correspondent Major Garrett, according to a letter obtained by Politico.

From the letter sent to Trevor Potter, general counsel for the McCain campaign. (Full letter here)

"We demand that you immediately remove Mr. Garrett's voice from this ad. As Mr. Garrett is a nonpartisan news correspondent covering the Obama campaign for Fox News, it is highly inappropriate, among other things, of your campaign to use him in your ad."

Thank goodness there is a "nonpartisan" blog out there getting out the good news that Fox News is so fair, balanced and nonpartisan that they are making an obvious stink about this reporter thing (while doing nothing to rein in the blatant right-wing editorializing by their reporters and their blatant slanting of their coverage...)

:sarcasm:

Politico reported the QUOTE from the letter FOX News sent to the McCain campaign. FOX News called their reporter "nonpartisan". Politico didn't call FOX News nonpartisan.

2. I'm aware of that, but that Politico is even pushing this non-story says a lot.
Of all the egregious and obvious RW bias that appears on Fox News on any given day, they go out of their way to try to prop up the ludicrous notion that Fox is unbiased with this?

So what if a reporter appears in an ad - anyone with half a brain knows that the mere presence in an ad doesn't constitute an endorsement.

This is a transparent attempt by one RW outlet that masquerades as nonpartisan to try and validate another RW outlet's bogus claim of impartiality.

4. Huffingtonpost also covered this story
Like it or not, it IS newsworthy. You're focusing on the word "nonpartisan". That's not what's newsworthy. What is newsworthy is that FOX News finds itself in a very weird position. Their slogan is "fair & balanced" but then their reporter is featured front and center in a McCain ad criticizing Obama.
