Maybe I am just overly sensitive today, but I do not like the tone of a bunch of the posts in another thread about how John Conyers is seeking to publicize the fact that Michigan Republicans are planning to use a list of ( mostly African-Americans) whose homes have been foreclosed to create a list of voters who will be challenged at the polls this November. The GOP plan is unAmerican, undemocratic and a typical Rovian ploy to scare Black voters away from the polls. It is also extremely foolish---as the GOP well knows. When reporters decided to do a story about the voter suppression plan, the Republicans tried to shut it down, because they knew that if the working class (i.e. Hillary Clinton's "hard working white Americans") got wind of it, they would be mad as hell and very likely a bunch of them who were thinking about voting for McCain would either stay home or switch their vote to Barack Obama. You see, home foreclosures are happening to everybody right now. And everyone knows that the mortgage crisis is the fault of rich fat cats like Phil Gramm, who advises John McCain, who will never lose his eleven houses....
So, when Conyers denounces this plan, I know that people in Michigan----and other parts of the north that have been hit hard by the tanking economy---will listen, because he represents their interests better than any of the Republicans ever has.
I love you, John Conyers! :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:
You stood up for an elected president when a lot of other Democrats were too scared to.
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
You held voter suppression hearings in a basement when that was the only place they would let you meet after Grand Theft Election Ohio 2004.
