The stated purpose of the AKIP is to hold a vote for independence, statehood, territory status, or commonwealth status.
Current status of Alaska is it is a state in the United States.
If the Alaskan people, in an open election, choose to send a slate of electors that will vote for Sarah Palin, a sitting Alaskan governor, as Vice PResident of the United States this becomes a de facto vote for the statehood of Alaska. Alaska can never again claim it requires a vote of the people to determine status. That status will be determined immediately when Sarah Palin has a slate of Alaskan electors for Vice PResident of the United States.
There will never again be anything even approaching a credible argument for such a vote. The vote will have been held and Alaska statewhood will be the choice.
The only way for the AKIP to halt this would be to insure Joe Biden wins the slate of electors for Vice PResident of the United States. Otherwise, their argument is null and void as of November 5.
