..and they are the party of less government interference in business ...so why is it that they are rewarding badly run businesses by handing out cash like party favors?

And, since the subprime mortgage crisis is causing this whole thing, at what point might it have been cheaper for the taxpayers to have simply bought all the questionable mortgages instead?

They just hand out the money, then let the businesses do what they want with it.
What conditions have put on these "loans" (gifts)?

3. Seriously, if brokerages are going to get bank-like safety nets, then they should ...
get bank-like regulation. It's that simple.

4. And Democrats are still painted as the party of fiscal irresponsibility -- tax & spend, blah blah...
You'd think the public -- especially the red-state public -- would get a clue, but time and time again, they vote against their economic interests by handing the controls to neocon assholes, who thrive on chaos, and profit obscenely on no-bid contracts.

But just mention the phrase "welfare cheat," and the average red-stater just about has a stroke.

It is, in a word, insane.

5. It IS because the Red states aren't given access to the news in detail
Pick up ANY local paper, it's a Gannet newspaper (The Morris Record) around here. The front page is filled with shit and local 'happenings', nothing about National politics unless one of the Reich wingers makes a local appearance. Tonight's bailout of AIG won't make the first section but a small paragraph on the 'National' page somewhere in the second section. And as I learned at work, the Reich wingers set their home pages to Fox News (FAUX sucks)CNS, or World Net Daily, but I have taken to blocking those sites at our firewall with the excuse that our computers should be set to OUR webpage instead.

The Winger bosses bought it.

Anyone who gets his or her 'news' from World Net Daily, CNS (owned by Brent Bozell) or any number of Reich wing sites is getting filtered big time.

6. What they do...
is play to the individualistic sense of these people. They always come with the line "you don't want government telling you what to do right?" People fall for it all the time because it is partially true. We don't want government running our lives. The problem and hipocrisy is that the Republicans mean it only for economics. Republicans want government to dictate what you can believe and what you can do in your love life, your marriage, what women can and cannot do with their bodies, etc... They only want government to butt out of business because that way the most powerful economic forces can dictate the buying behavior, the earning potential, and basic economic life of the rest of us.

They equate sharing of resources to communism even though it is a Christian principle which these asses claim to be but act nothing like.
