Considering the alternative energy industry provides my bread and butter, I have to say
that I just fell in love with Rep. Louise Slaughter as she appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show.

Brother and sisters, I have to say that I really like Rachel's new show.

Rep. Slaughter said "Drill, drill, drill is stupid and we need to forget about oil and look to alternatives. Oil is getting too important to burn, considering all its uses in the petro-chemical industry and elsewhere and there's not enough of it left."

"Offshore drilling is stupid because there's just not alot out there. We only have about 3%. The oil companies haven't asked for off-shore leases. They know it's not worth. They say they don't have any drill bits. They don't have any drills and they're at refining capacity already. So, drill, drill, drill is not the answer. Alternatives are the answwer."

2. Slaughter was awesome,
The best description of the drill situation I've seen.

I cross-posted that it is interesting gamesmenship in Congress to give the Repubs a vote on it, which will end the talking point of their campaign.

3. We use oil in SO many ways... just burning it in our vehicles is the
height of hubris. fortunately, many of the oil derived products can be made from other (renewable) sources... but still... she is absolutely correct, we should not be burning it for any reason.

4. I made a post about a month or so ago, saying we should just give 'em that
drill wherever the fuck you want, pubs (they actually put good limits on them in the actual legislation).

But... get busy making it so that nobody wants to start drilling for oil that will only be available 10 years from now.... when we've made alternative energy a reality and nobody wants oil anyway.

What kind of alternative energy are you into, Texas Explorer?
