I'm feeling REALLY DOWN today.
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 09:11 PM by danagsk8
1. The constant influx of McCain/Palin ads on various cable channels (not just CNN or Faux News).

2. Seeing AT LEAST one McCain bumpersticker on a car every day I'm driving in traffic.

3. The pitfalls of the various banks.

4. Trying to get a passport, not really WANTING to leave the country, but not wanting to put up with four more years of:
"AMERICA: LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!"
"MOVE TO CANADA LIKE YOU PROMISED!"
"FREEDOM ISN'T FREE."
"IRAQIS ARE THE ENEMY. WE HAVE TO FIGHT THEM OVER THERE SO WE DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT THEM HERE."

5. Not really know what to do to help the various hurricane victims other than cough up a lot of money and have to worry about it falling in to the wrong hands.

6. Skewed polls that constantly show McCain in the lead, and Palin as the "better choice" for VP.

I've tried to talk to my :kick: family about it, but they won't listen.

1. Consider the possibility that your happiness doesn't depend on any of that crap.

24. Very good point...
Unless you have some amount of money that disappeared today, which makes certain aspects of life difficult or not available (retirement, college for kids, house in a safer neighborhood, etc).

But I generally agree that we, as humans, have got to learn to live through this stuff, or are we truly "living"?

Far more Obama signs.

4. Maybe you just need to move to a blue state.
Here in CA the mood is very upbeat about an Obama win.

When you donate to hurricane victims, there's a chance somebody might get it who can use it.

If you didn't donate, there's no chance at all.

17. IMO Red Cross is the best for quick response.
Consistently highly-rated by watchdog groups like charitywatch.org and Charity Navigator

30. or UMCOR see link inside. This agency sometimes beats the Red Cross
but is usually the second group to arrive. You can go to their center in Sager Brown, Louisiana and help pack the supplies, etc. also. And you will know your money will get where it needs to be.

Red Cross has shelters going up in Houston and surrounding areas.

5. Let me cheer you up ...
In ARIZONA, I have so far seen NOT ONE McCain or even McCain/Palin sticker.

And I commute between middle-class Mesa and upper-class rich Scottsdale, 65 miles total each day.

And every day I see SEVERAL Obama stickers.

9. Here in Greensboro area I've seen more Obama stickers...
but to the east in Burlington is another matter. I've seen my first McSame/Failin' lawn sign, two McSame stickers, and a NoBama.

But many many more Obama stickers on cars.

Mark.

12. I'll second that!
I never really notice bumper stickers but I was driving through a parking lot in Phoenix yesterday and saw 3 Obama stickers and no McCain. And that's in one of the more affluent suburbs- I was very encouraged.

8. You may want to separate those things over which you have influence from those you don't.
You know the saying about how we change the world by serving those within arms' reach of our lives?

Everything you have listed is beyond your reach.

Why not find things YOU CAN DO rather than worry over things over which you have no control?

Jus' sayin'

10. Where do you live? Go visit the nearest accessible big city. There are lots of Obama people in
every big city. Really, this weekend, grab a good friend and go to the city, have some fun.

Hang on, sweetie. I know exactly how you feel. But, I'll tell you, I have not seen a McLame sticker in at least a month! I see Obama stickers everywhere!

13. Im happy!
I just got my Universal Health Care card and found out were having a baby on the same day!

Here and there, life throws you a curveball. Roll with the punches...better times ahead!

Don't chain your emotional health to the games men with small minds or penises play.

22. Thanks! Were excited.
Turn on some Daily Show. Enjoy life (children, family, a nice walk, a good beer, a book you always meant to read, fruit from your garden) and laugh about that which you cannot control, and don't let it control you (all easier said than done)

14. It is a psyop being run by experts, I am not surprised it is
affecting you. (I don't think the banks are part of it, that is real-so too the weather.) Look at the crowds McSame and Caribou Barbie draw, a few thousand zombies. Look at our crowds of smiling cheering people. It is all a scam, it's the thievery they are trying to set us up for that bothers me.

It is hard to shake this off. We need to stay focused.

26. Try Not To Lose Hope
Hang in there. I feel that way at times. I live in a conservative county in VA, but it is slowly but surely turning blue. I was getting down when I would see a McCain bumper sticker on several cars here and two lawn signs on my block. However, they have since been outnumbered by the amount of Obama 08 bumper stickers that I have been seeing of late. I believe that there are more people who have a lot more on the ball than there are those who are just ignorant, racist and selfish enough to believe that McCain/Palin are just what this country needs. As hard as it can be at times, try to hang in there, I have to believe that there is hope.

28. Addressing each point of yours (and hopefully cheering you up)

1. Obama has won 5 straight news cycles. And Obama's ads have been running heavily in swing states (I know first hand, I'm in PA).

2. What state are you in? Not many McCain stickers here (PA).

3. This *IS* bad for the country... but good for Obama's campaign.

4. So... you're willing to give up and leave this country to the Repukes? Not me... I'll fight them to the death. I *LOVE* this country, and that means I'll work to change it when it is broken.

5. Elect Democrats. That way you are helping future hurricane victims.

6. Most polls are worthless. Wait until election day. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
